On the West end of Pinellas Pl, for the Palmetto Executive Course, there is a crossing. Between holes one & two and between holes 8 & 9.

So is this a golf cart crossing and the carts must yield

OR

Is this a pedestrian crossing and cars must yield??

or or...............does it depend if the golfer is walking vs. riding.

Doesn't matter---both golf carts and pedestrians who are not already in the crosswalk are required to yield to cars on the road. Cars must yield to carts and pedestrians already in the crosswalk. Cyclists will just blow through anyway so they're on their own:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Very scary..................if a cart (or person) enters the crosswalk when the car is ten feet from the crosswalk and is traveling 25 mph.............the car must yield??

So it gets down to: Who gets there first?? Good Luck with that.

Pedestrians and carts may not enter the crosswalk if any traffic is approaching. There is no ambiguity.

I believe the signs say Golf Cart Crossing so they are not crosswalks. Just as a sidenote since we're in the area, there is a guy in a 4 seater brown Yamaha that thinks it's okay to cross 466A to get to Culvers. I've seen him do it twice so maybe a Deputy leaving the station will show him the error of his ways with the $500 unregistered motor vehicle ticket.

It's part of the cart paths on the golf course. Of course walkers playing the course can use it. No reason for pedestrians to cross the street there because there's no sidewalk on the North side of the street, just the golf course, in which non golfers are not allowed..

Wrong, Wrong, WRONG!!!!

No one entity ALWAYS has the right of way, it depends on the situation.

Golf carts are motor vehicles and have the same rules as cars except for speed limits and the type of road they can drive upon.

The most obvious examples are the merge points------like any merge, the vehicle on the road has the right of way over the merging vehicle. NOT because it is a golf cart, but because they are merging. However, the signs before a merge require the car to slow down to 20 mph. That means if the merging cart has a 100-200 foot lead, they can legally merge. The car has no right to speed up to 40 to race ahead.

Hmmm-----even a whole 20 feet away????

A car travelling at 30 mph is going 44 feet/sec, at 20 mph it's 29 ft/sec. For your own safety, please revise your distances.

Well, the rules ae certainly NOT what was posted in #42.

The cart DOES NOT have to be electric (what a joke)
It can travel on roads with a speed limit of up to 35 mph
It's not supposed to go over 25 mph
And it can cross roads with a higher limit as long as both sides of the road it is travelling on are no more than 35 mph zones.

Today, I experienced:

I was at the stop sign heading south on Paradise, at the Boone Gate. Going over the golf cart bridge to do some shopping at Target. People coming in from 441 do -not- have a stop sign, once they've passed that gate (which is out of commission, but there is a stop sign for them, where the gate should be). People on my left on Boone DO have a stop sign. People coming from across the street also DO have a stop sign.

Someone coming in from 441 stopped and tried to get me to take THEIR right of way, and cross Boone to the south side of Paradise. This was a really REALLY stupid and dangerous thing for them to do. There were two cars behind them - and another car in the lane next to them, who also did NOT have a stop sign, and had no plan on stopping for me.

Because this car refused to take their right of way, they caused a delay, and now someone coming from the south, turning toward 441, was now not sure what THEY should do. And of course the inevitable happened, someone coming from Boone to the intersection stopped, and now THEY had no idea what they were supposed to do.

All because someone who DID have the right of way, refused to take it.

Then - on the way home, coming from Target. I'm on that road that runs parallel to 441, that connects the Workman parking lot to the strip mall where Winn Dixie is. I was in the golf cart lane, in my golf cart. And a car came out of the Taco Bell driveway, cutting me off. I had to swerve out of the way to prevent from being killed. The driver of the car just smiled at me. Like she had no understanding at all, of the fact that /I/ had the right of way, and I was doing what I was supposed to do, and she chose to ignore her stop sign at the end of her driveway.

Here's a clue: when you have the right of way, please take it. If you have a stop sign, even if you want to roll through it, make sure you're not cutting off someone who has the right of way.
