Why not mail it?
Or if it's a Villager why not just drop it off at their house?

Howzabout you take it over to TV Admin office 984 Old Mill Run or at least call it 352-751-3939 to advise them that you have it - they might be able to contact the person directly rather than believe the owner reads this forum.

Very NICE of you. Have you tried looking up a phone number for them? If, it is that green villages ID I expect the Villages Office can help you.

Most Regional Rec Centers handle Lost & Found. Take it to one closest to you and give it to person at the front desk.

Over the years walking the dog, I have found driver's licenses, wallets (including one obviously thrown out of a car), credit cards, etc. on the sidewalk and in yards. I always turn them over to law enforcement. I'm not sure about Florida but in Virginia I'd call the police non-emergency number and an officer would drop by and take a report on the circumstances. Why do this? If the article in question has been stolen and dumped, do you want the owner accusing you of doing it? And if it was stolen, you have just given police a head start in their investigation.

This is a no brainer.
If it is a driver's license, mail it to the address on the card.
If it is a Villages ID, take it to the Villages Administration office at 984 Old Mill Run in Lake Sumter. They will return it to the resident.

I lost mine on path several months ago. This is VERY nice of you to try to get back to owner. Out of state driver license hard to replace plus easy way for Identity theft. Please turn in to law enforcement if owner doesn’t come forth. Thanks for being caring person who remembers golden rule - treat others the way you want to be treated.

The OP edited the original post. Maybe he/she should also edit the thread title. Otherwise, someone looking for a lost ID card may not even read the thread.
Note, to edit the title of a thread, you need to use the "advanced" edit option.

Think if you google the person’s name and The Villages you might come up with a phone number…
Or bring it to a rec center they will track down the owner

I suspect it's a Village ID card. Just drop it off at a rec. center.

Although the OP is trying to be helpful, it’s risky business posting your personal phone number on a public forum where anyone can have access to it and do ….XYZ with it .
Better to ask the person to private message you…..

The owner of the card reached out to me and I gave her your phone number! She should be calling soon, I'm sure!
Have a great weekend!
