As most Villagers know, The Villages spans through three different counties. Here are the number of new COVID cases as of Oct. 26, according to the CDC website. In Lake County, there have been about 51 new cases over the last week. About four of those cases were admitted to the hospital, and no deaths

Can someone post the Villages cases of monkey pox, along with fatalities, broken down by the closest town square in the Villages (America's friendliest home town).
Do we know why it is called "Monkey" pox?
Is there a vaccine being made to combat this?

1. Not me. Although, when it kills 500,000 Americans in a year those stats might become available.
2. Yes. Google is your friend
3. Already been done. (See comment above re: Google)

If a person doesn’t care about Covid at ALL! What is the driving force for that person to respond on this thread?
Is it to belittle those who still care? I know you have every rite to respond to every post but why this one when all your reply can do is influence someone to back off being careful when they shouldn’t. Just wondering is all. Carry on.

As of 10/24/2022, the worldwide population dying of the virus was 1.036%. So this was 6.58 million people. Smoking kills 8 million per year, and that includes second hand smoke. Just some stats to mull over. Have a nice day.

A lot of people are coming back from cruises with Covid, so I wouldn't expect the numbers here in The Villages to go down. Almost every person I know who has been on a cruise has gotten it. Thanks to the vaccine, though, they say it is like a bad cold/flu. I personally don't want to catch it and risk getting long Covid. I have two friends who got that. One never regained his sense of smell, lost 10 pounds because he can't taste food. The other friend suffers mental issues, brain fog, that was never there before. And this is 2 years later. Sad.

These are all Fake Statistics. This site really has no idea how many cases are in the various counties. I and a few neighbors all had Covid in Sept. Not one of us went to a doc or reported the case to the health dept. We used the free home tests the Govnt sent out for diagnosis after exhibiting symptoms. How would this site know about our cases???

I've had many family members die of cancer, heart disease, Autoimmune diseases, l am much more concerned with that, if you want to spend your days fixated in fear, then that's your choice. COVID is here to stay....I chose a long time ago to move on and enjoy my life, I've had it and almost everyone I know has had it..and yes I lost a dear friend, but I blame our corrupt medical system, that was ruled by politicians and pharma that unfortunately led to the increased deaths from this man made virus. I am a 30+ year nurse.

I’ve had covid, I’ve also had the flu, chicken pox, measles and many other things. More people have died from the flu and car accidents throughout the years but we don’t keep track of those deaths over and over.

1. Until they catch the virus? Is this in comparison to OJ trying to catch the killers?
2. Many people's family members have died, hard deniers have died, people on their deathbeds saying they wish they got the shots have died. I'm current on shots and haven't had any side effects from them. Other than I occasionally experience mind control because a few times I wake up to the Kardashians on TV. (who made me do that?)
3. The news has been milder these days but it's not a bad thing to have stats to see where it's at. If you don't like it, just move on.
3. People with asthma have higher risk, and I have history of very mild asthma but still don't want to take chances. So no crowds for me.

I agree with you, we lost two close friends and a neighbor on our block. HOWEVER, I also lost TWO of my closest friends to diabetes, and one to breast cancer. I do not think it is mentally healthy were I too continue to fixate on the statistics of diabetes complications and deaths, cancer statistics such as; is thyroid cancer rate rising in my county, is breast cancer on the wane, etc. etc. I never knew my grandmother because she died in the great flu pandemic, but would living my life constantly focusing on that would not really DO anything to help anyone, the dead or the living. Covid came, our president said Covid is over, and of course there will always be cases. I don't believe anyone who has commented was trying to convey that the deaths of our friends and yours were not of any importance ! Perhaps you read more into it than it contained, but, who knows !

Yours is one of the most mentally healthy posts on this subject. Hope those who appear to be so "insulted" that this tragic event is not "enshrined" forever after in our daily lives, will pause and analyze your comments to a greater degree. We lost two very close friends and one neighbor on our very block. But we also have lost friends to diabetes, in a horrific auto accident, and to cancer. Yet, for the sake of mental health we choose not to build our day around checking the daily stats on all of these...that does NOT mean we think it's "funny" or amusing, as one commenter said. It simply means we are mentally healthy enough not be live in dread or fear (as did Howard Hughes and so many other less "famous" individuals). That CAN lead to poor mental health and even effect their day to day living by "stealing the joy". OF COURSE do not forget those who were lost through this, but these comments about "you must think this is funny", and other such remarks are a bit unfocused, or perhaps they misinterpreted the words and assigned emotions to just written words ?

I assume that it just means that actual cases are GREATER than on the CDC website. So, those CDC statistics can NOT be called "fake statistics". They are the best AVAILABLE. The point is to be able to see trends like going up or down. Also, will the cases and deaths go up in the winter months of Dec, Jan, and Feb? TRENDS are an important reason for keeping statistics.

Agreed. But is spouting these skewed numbers is going to bring your father back? Are they going to save ANYONE else? A resounding NO. It’s like keeping score after the game is over…and it is over.

True........" Covid IS here to stay". ........in the US (not all countries) because there was no MANDATE to be vaccinated. With a mandate, Covid would be likely gone. For those who don't like the word "mandate", OK then I would say to PAY people to take the Vaccine. Would that make people feel better about the government? But, that might require a SLIGHT tax increase and that might be complained about.
Regardless, Covid did NOT need to be here to stay. The US people just found too many reasons to reject the vaccine. I wonder if outside-the-US-forces had anything to do with that rejection. Not too long ago elementary school attendance depended on proof of receiving the MMR vaccine.

Long Covid can be a life changer and not for the better. I am more concerned with that than dying from Covid. Thank you Wuhan Bioweapons Lab.
I was hospitalized with pneumonia back in my 30s, have scarring in my lungs from it which shows up in X-rays and I never recovered from it 100%.
Just got my second Covid booster shot and a senior flu shot. Thank you Medicare.

Correction: They died WITH Covid, NOT from/of Covid…at least most did. More often than not, Co-morbities were responsible for those deaths. Sorry if this sounds cold, but those of us trained as REAL scientists don’t really have much use for those caught up in political science.

Bill14564

Why aren’t we talking about opioid/fentanyl deaths instead of covid?
Okay...
1. If the number of opioid/fentanyl deaths in an area is high, are there any special precautions that I need to take before visiting?
2. What actions should I take to protect someone from my opioid/fentanyl use?
3. Other than not taking drugs, what should I do to protect myself from the use of opioid/fentanyl by others?
I believe the answer for those are no, none, and nothing but perhaps there is something more to talk about?
