Spectrum or Comcast

Moving into a new home in Richmond soon. We are currently renting a house. We are using Comcast. Seems to be ok. Should we go with Spectrum or Comcast? I estimate that the internet part of the bill will be about $50 for the first 12 months. I am not sure which provider has the superior cable tv component. Figure I will be spending about $75 for the cable tv component. Might try Youtube tv or something similar for the streaming service.

If by Spectrum you mean Quantum fiber I would go with Quantum fiber. Comcast plays games, they give you a great teaser rate and then all of a sudden after a year your rate shoots up by $30. Quantum is fixed price for as long as you have it and no data caps.

We have always used Comcast for all 3 of our homes. Only use WiFi, $60 a month, for unlimited, then utube, which we travel with to our north home, and lake house.

Considering Verizon for WiFi, at new build. We are switching everything north to Verizon. Cheaper than any other service, can’t be any worse than dish. No contract, so is not reliable, will switch.

First arrivals in newly built villages goes through WiFi and delivery issues for a little while.

Have been here for 8 years and have Spectrum since then. Neighbors have COMCAST and continually have issues with service and finding a live person to talk to seems to be an issue. Spectrum has been reliable and have live folks to talk to when you have to reach out.

Do you have a choice where you will be? Many areas do not give you one.

Have had Xfinity/Comcast (internet only) for three years. Have heard about issues with Comcast but have not experienced them myself. The only issues I have had were immediately following the hurricane when we had a few outages of about 20 minutes. Never had to contact support so don't know how difficult it would be to reach a live person.

I installed T-Mobile 5G wifi for my father back in rural NY State. So far so good. It is definitely location dependent but he is in an acceptable location. Might be another option to look into down here.

When we moved here beginning of 2020 was told that your choice was Comcast as spectrum was not in the village of Bonita.

Spectrum is not the same as Quantum Fiber. Quantum Fiber is what used to be called CenturyLink. I agree that if you have a choice, Quantum (aka CenturyLink) is a good choice. I have had them for over 8 years and no issues and a "one price for life" cost. I suspect Richmond might not be wired for Quantum ???

Comcast lesser of two evils. Will never go back to Spectrum. Returned equipment and a long line of angry to be ex customers. They can’t terminate without hostilities

I have been very satisfied with Xfinity, which is what Comcast has named their consumer technology products since 2010.

It's amazing how difficult it is for a company to get customers to recognize a new name.

I have not seen any references to Xfinity Flex.
If I understand correctly it is free for those who already have Xfinity internet........it has many streaming apps including You Tube TV.....of course one would have to subscribe to the apps of choice.

No. Xfinity Flex is pretty much worthless, and it will only work on one TV. You would be much better off to buy a Roku stick for about $50 for each TV. You will get a lot of free content, and you can install any streaming app from the internet and subscribe to it. Much more user friendly than Xfinity Flex.

I have a question about Spectrum using an app like Roku and watching TV. Can you also watch programs that were recorded on the main Spectrum box? With Xfinity we can.

if you are asking about watching them both at the same time, i think not. . :22yikes:

yes, just make sure that you have enough HDMI ports on the TV to have different input selections for cable box, playstation, dvd, etc.. up north, we watch spectrum prerecorded shows on the cable box. Down south in TV, we watch the old shows on the streaming app. . .

You can ditch the box if you want with high speed cable.

We went with Spectrum for internet. Using Youtube Tv (which has unlimited cloud dvr). We are happy so far. The installer from Spectrum was professional and trustworthy.

We have had one problem with Comcast. Moved here three years ago and Comcast (Xfinity) gave us cheap rate for landline.

Every few weeks landline stopped working and had to reboot.

Xfinity wanted us to pay about $ 100 for them to troubleshoot problem.

Found a better way and dropped the landline.
