potential newbie w/ questions

Hi there,
We are thinking about moving to TV. Can anyone answer some questions for us?
- what is the cost for the fitness center?
-how hard is it to get a tee-time on championship courses during "high season" with a "premier membership?
- are the estimated fees to live in TV (on the website) accurate?
- are you allowed to put a gas grill OUTSIDE your lanai in the newer sections?
- How long does it take to get from one side of the community to the other by golf cart?

Fitness center are crowded and member ship is probably not worth joining. Most exercise can be done outdoors year round. If you really want a gym, I would check out those off campus.

Golf tee times with a priority membership are available even during high season. Sometimes not the exact time or course you want, but your always able to play 3 or 4 times a week.

The fees are close to what they publish. I figure $1000 to $1200 a month above the mortgage for everything and that usually has money left over.

Yes a gas grill can be outside.

When complete the Villages will be about 15 miles end to end and about 5 miles at it's widest point. Golf cart speed is 20 mph. However depending on where you live, we live fairly central to the completed project, we can get to most places we go in about 20 minutes or less. LSL is 5 minutes, SS is 15 minutes, Nancy Lopez and Orange Blossom the two furthermost golf courses take 20 to 25 minutes. Brownwood when complete will be about 25 minutes.

They are crowded in the morning but not in the afternoon or early evening. We go every day to use the weight machines and never have a problem. Membership is about $375/year.

This seems a little high.

Could be, did it on mapquest and measured from the very top just North and East of Nancy Lopez to where I believe Brownwood will be on 44. But had to move scale up quite a bit to see it all and estimate the end points. Then took that times 1.35 to adjust for roads and tunnels etc.

Using Google Maps, it's 12 miles from the intersection of Buena Vista/42 to the intersection of Buena Vista/44.

With the detours it is a bit further. We went from Duval to Lopez Sunday and it was 11.1 miles. When the new cart paths open I suspect it will be a bit shorter and more enjoyable.

When the new section below CR-466A is built out, Buena Vista Blvd will extend down to CR44, - approx. another 3 miles, for a total of maybe 13 miles, again - BY CAR! Golf cart detours will add some distance to that, maybe a mile. Of course, the width of TV at its widest point is much less, and most golf cart trips to destinations within TV would be significantly less also.

1) the golf cart does NOT need to be street legal, not registed with the state or have a license plate, if used only on golf courses and cart paths thru out the villages?
2) and if it is NOT "street legal" (registered) you can still buy insurance for about $100 annually
3) you can get almost anywhere withing TV on these golf cart paths

Eyegirl: You are correct that your golf cart does not have to be plated or registered to use the golf cart lanes, multi-modal paths and golf course paths.

I have seen several posts on TOTV where insurance premiums for straight golf carts cost around $100/yr and even less depending upon the coverage and the insurance provider.

You can get get almost everywhere within TV on golf carts.
