There is a notice on districtgov.org.

Phone numbers are there too but you likely won't be able to find anyone in early enough to tell you about trash collection today.

I think that was the message for yesterday, November 9. The phone message today says that they will not be picking up trash today, November 10.

Note: For Jacobs Sumter Sanitation, Thursday pick ups will be done on Saturday.

I have one bag of trash that would have gone today.
I would not waste my time ( or the folks answering the phone) calling to find out for sure if pickup was a go or no go.
The bag can wait for the next pick up………………

It’s almost like common sense when a Hurricane is imminent garbage is one of the last things you want flying around your neighborhood but that would be something else to complain about. Didn’t we have a Hurricane drill last month?

This thread shows that there was a glitch in communicating whether trash collection was to be performed today. There is a need for that info, and it certainly was not met by TheVillages.net website which clearly stated last night that the collection for certain districts would be as scheduled today. If you miss the scheduled pickup in our area (Occurs around 6:30 AM), you are stuck until next Tuesday. So out goes the trash. To change that schedule today for today's pickup certainly means that someone let us down. They knew what today's weather was going to be days ago. Nothing changed but their schedule. I wonder if they called up their employees today after 7 AM to tell them no work today.

Perhaps they should rethink their process. Wouldn't hurt to have their customers get the info.

Everyone was locked up today.

Too rainy for dog poop.
No one driving around for white crosses.
