In the App Store, I’ve downloaded one called PWS Monitor. It allows me to “tap into” a local weather / backyard station. So I have access to a persons personal weather station in the Fenney area. I also follow some in Europe.

Im not sure how reliable it is, it’s been too wet to go outside and see what’s in my rain gauge. But it works for me.

PWS is nice because it's easy to read and is only a single station view, but Wunderground shows everything at once then you can zoom in to any single one.

Move around the map. You should be able to find a station within a few blocks of your home

And you believe we've had 30" of rain. I wouldn't think we had half that.

Sorry for my last reply. Tried to figure out how to delete, didn't happen. What I get for using my phone. I thought it said point #2 and 30".instead of 2.3, my bad.

Weather Underground is my primary weather source for The Villages and the nation. By contrast, all the television weather reports seem to be alarmist. Their primary interest seems to be to get you to keep watching through the next set of advertisements. So they are usually alarmist, making you expect the worst. By contrast, Weather Underground just tries to be accurate. I was getting contacted yesterday by friends around the country who were sure I was facing a killer hurricane. What? What we got yesterday, hour by hour, was pretty much what Weather Underground said to expect. Television news was not. Weather Underground is not always right, especially given the way we get brief downpours here that may soak a few neighborhoods while skipping others, but it’s the best we have.

That said, I think Weather Underground falls short in not giving us an easy way to know what the total rain was in the last day or week or month. The information may be there somewhere, but it’s a hard to find.

Spend about $10.00 & get a rain gauge for your yard. Or spend a little more & get one that you can read inside the house. Either way will give you a much more accurate reading for your location. Both are available at Lowes, Home Depot& Amazon.

You can't delete a message, Just use EDIT and edit anything you want in your posted message. The best way to remove everything is to EDIT, erase all the text, then add 3 random digits like "///" and save it.

I have a rain gauge in my garden to see how much rain we have gotten....should I turn on the sprinklers or not? Don't really care about other areas, you can get that on the news.

Download the Pocket Rain Gauge app. Update hourly and uses your phones location to tell you how much rain over the past 24 hours.

Hello. I have a personal weather station and "suffer" from weather data mania. I love weather data. Anyway, I report daily precipitation to https://www.cocorahs.org/ . There are interactive maps available, and reports that can be run by the state, county, etc. I live in Marion County and even though there are not a lot of reporting stations, I get a feel for the local or broad range of precipitation totals. It was quite amazing to watch hurricane Ian as the totals were posted. Having lived up north, I still enjoy watching the precip reports from that area. Here is a link to my local station. My rain gauge collected just about 3” after Nicole. It’s as reliable as I need.
