Went to the Longhorn tonight, first time there. Wife's sirloin was just perfect, and her baked potato was delicious. The salads weren't bad. My ribeye was a tad overcooked and much too much seasoning, but I ate it anyways. The free refills were a pleasant surprise. Waiter was good, gave him a 20% tip in cash. Will we go back
probably not. Too many other places to eat.

Longhorn steakhouse is my favorite among the medium priced steakhouse chains. We no longer eat steak (red meat) except maybe a special occasion or circumstance.

We've had really good food and service at Longhorn. Much better than Texas Roadhouse, mostly due to the unreal noise you have to put up with at TR. Food is pretty good there, but the ambiance is lacking.

My favorite chain steakhouse is Outback. Been consistent wherever we go.

We prefer them over Texas Roadhouse, when you order their steak just tell them no seasoning on the meat ! Texas Roadhouse is to loud ,you have to yell at the waiter so he can hear you ,I like to eat where its quiet ,music is to loud !

One of our favorites… not the only one though. Pick your time to avoid a long wait with the crowd outside.
Maybe the friendliest, fastest service of any restaurant in the area. ALL the employees have big smiles! We’ve found the food consistently very good. For the type of restaurant that it is, more consistent food quality and service than any other restaurant in the area, even the “high end” ones.
Only complaint? It’s pretty noisy, although not as bad as others here, particularly a couple newly renovated country clubs. But even with the noise, their booths make conversation pretty easy.

Longhorn steakhouse is our favorite place to eat in TV. We have never had a bad meal ever. I sure would give him another try.

I’ve been eating at Longhorn since the early’80’s in Atlanta. Always perfect food. The only drawback is when I ask the server to wait until I finish my salad to bring the entree. Well, never even get two bites and it shows up. I don’t like cold steak. Next time I may say your tip amount depends upon the timing of my entree. And I tip well.

I like Longhorn, and I go there occasionally. But, I don't order a steak at any restaurant anymore. I can buy a USDA Prime filet mignon at Publix, and cook it at home in about 8 minutes. Way better than any restaurant steak. As far as I know, no restaurant in the area serves USDA Prime filet mignon. Even Mark's in Ocala doesn't claim to serve USDA Prime filet mignon. Go figure.

ChopHouse in Sumter has several selections of prime, Stirrups serves prime, and Prime 3 steak house in Leesburg has some prime meat.

They have some Prime steaks, but none of them lists a Prime filet mignon on their menu.

Filet mignon is the most popular steak ordered in restaurants. I have read several steak house menus in the area, and, if you want a USDA Prime filet mignon, apparently, you need to go to Ruth Chris in Orlando, where all of their steaks are USDA Prime. Or, you can buy an 8 ounce Prime filet mignon at Publix or Sam's Club for about 15 dollars and cook it yourself. I like the local steak restaurants including Longhorn, but, when I go, I always order something other than a steak. I can't see paying 3 times as much for a steak of a lower quality beef than I serve at home. I remember about 10 years ago Outback starting offering a few higher quality steaks, but it didn't last long. Apparently, people weren't willing to pay the price.

I enjoy reading restaurant reviews. They are very interesting and informative, positive or negative. I don't understand why some people think that restaurants need to be protected against criticism. And, tippng is a gratuity, or gift, with the amount to be determined by the customer. I think it is wrong to tell someone how much to tip and why they should or should not tip a certain amount.

We’ve been to Longhorn several times and have always found it satisfactory. If you are expecting Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris, you are likely to be disappointed with everything but the check.

Cash goes directly to the server. Tip on a credit card gets shared with everybody.

Legally, a shared tip pool can only include other tipped employees, not kitchen staff or managers. So, apparently, you are assuming that your server will be dishonest by stealing money from the agreed upon tip pool.

When servers have to tip out dont they have to distribute tips to lots of people behind the scenes or is that in other states not Florida?

No. It is Federal law that a tip received by a server is the property of the server, not the restaurant. If the restaurant requires a server to share their tip income with non-tipped employees, they are stealing money from the server. Pooling tips is legal, but the pool can only be shared among the tipped employees. The Department of Labor and the Fair Labor Standards Act define "tipped employees" as those who regularly receive more than $30 per month as tips.

As an Italian, we eat our salad after the main course.
I believe the "salad first" is to keep you occupied while waiting for the meal.

My daughter in Ohio is currently hosting a high school exchange student from Milan, Italy. The girl was amazed that people can take home left over food from their meals at restaurants. They don't do that in Italy, or at least Milan.

Want more money to take an order and carry plates to a table...ask the owner or get an education and a real job.
