This small snake was seen on our street. It met its unfortunate demise under the wheel of a vehicle.
Is it a pygmy rattlesnake? It's about 10"-12" long.

I believe that it is a corn snake which is nonpoisonous. Tough to tell with black and white.

There are no POISONOUS snakes in Florida, or in fact on the entire planet. Pet peeve of mine. Bon appetite.

Correct. My bad, I should have indicated nonvenomous. By the by, the snake in the picture could also be a rat snake, which is also NONVENOMOUS.

Semantics. Left untreated, the bite of a western taipan will kill you just as dead as biting down on a cyanide capsule. The POINT is made equally well whether you use "poisonous" or "venomous".

Respectfully, you are quite incorrect. I have attached a photo of a five foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake I took on Villages new construction property. I could have also sent you photos of Water Moccasins (aka "Cottonmouths") taken on Villages ponds. Friends have also seen Coral Snakes. All very venomous and aggressive.

Please, do not demean these helpful creatures. They do a great job managing rodent and insect populations and very, very rarely pose any threat to humans.

Brown rat snake. Harmless even when alive.
Venomous-If it bites you, you get sick / Poisonous-If you eat it you get sick = Semantics

Did you get the license plate number of the car that ran over this snake? Could be my wife as she really hates snakes!

Normally I would ask if it has a flat head but too late for that.
