I am starting to get a new, online publication named, Resident Report. Perhaps. I inadvertently signed up for it. Just wondering who is publisher and owner? Is it independent? Seems to have interesting information but clearly to a particular point of view...

A quick search reveals that the address of the 'publisher' is an apartment complex in Wildwood []Access to this page has been denied. (https://www.trulia.com/p/fl/wildwood/7011-homestead-loop-5-305-wildwood-fl-34785--2546297345) - making one wonder about "We are a resident-centered, fact-based news website exclusively serving The Villages.
Our moto is "For Residents, By Residents", and our goal is to inform Villagers. We do not take sides, produce salacious clickbait, or circulate gossip." on its FB page.

No big deal - whoever wrote the FB blurb doesn't know how to spell motto or how to proofread for errors!

Not allowed to run a business in a Village residence so most likely in a commercial area but may well live in TV. They are not ashamed to post the address on their site.

Unfortunately, I stay away from any site that does not identify its ownership. There are just too many scams out there. I did go to this site a couple of weeks ago to check it out but probably will not return as could not find anything that would lead me to believe that they really part the The Villages community. Could be just a front to collect data.

Don't you start, Don Lemon. Funny how the anti-conservative post is still up and thread still open, but if I ragged on cnn, it would be deleted / locked and I'd be sent on holiday faster than I can blink.

The site has been in existence for almost a year. It has consistently echoed the Developer's line on every issue.

Out of curiosity, last July, I asked its administrator (Thomas Mule) about ownership of the site. He told me the following: The site is owned by a group of businessmen from Covington, Louisiana, who after market research, decided this would be a good area for an on-line news site. The group hired Mule to move to Wildwood and set up and administer the site. He has no connection to the Villages Developer and didn't know who Gary Lester (who happens to be from Louisiana) is. At that time, the site was generating no revenue, but he planned to start soliciting advertisers after making certain arrangements with Google.

So, that is the official story. However, the site apparently still has been unable to obtain any advertising. It consistently spouts the Developer's line and launches personal attacks (with juvenile name calling) on anyone criticizing the Developer's actions or candidates for office. Since the site generates no revenue, it is being subsidized by someone. I cannot imagine who that might be.

It will be interesting to see if the site remains in existence now that the 2022 election season is over.

Is that the going rate to bribe someone in the Florida legislature or did the developer get a discount since Hage already worked for him?

Since this post was brought to my attention by a subscriber, I thought I would respond. The publisher and editor of the Resident Report’s name is Thomas Mule’. He is a veteran, former political consultant, and resident of Wildwood.
Yes, the Resident Report is independent. It is owned by a group of Louisiana businessmen who saw an opportunity to 1) Fill a void in the news media market in The Villages, and 2) Make money by having businesses who share the same vision advertise with the site. Speaking of advertising, and to further prove the fact that the Resident Report is not “owned by the Developer), we are personally the ones soliciting ads. If we really were “in the pocket of the Developer” this would not be an issue for us, since we would have received plenty of ad revenue from “the Developer’s businesses.”
To simultaneously address two miscomprehensions about the website, yes the editor is located in Wildwood, and has been on the waiting list for the Lofts at Brownwood since March of 2022. And yes, motto was misspelled on the FB page, but has since been corrected. The editor wears many hats and is busy chasing down stories so one misspelling should be forgiven.
As for the opinion pieces and the claim that they are “one-sided”, we pride ourselves on keeping news stories and opinion pieces separate, unlike the **************. If you don’t like the “side” our opinion pieces demonstrate, too bad. At the end of the day they are what they are- opinion pieces.
The owner of the site is Gibson Media Group, LLC. They do not wish to “collect data” or run a “scam”. They only want to provide independent news for The Villages and the surrounding area, and to make money on ad revenue. The question of “who is bankrolling” the site is absolutely no one’s business, but we can guarantee it is no one affiliated with the Developer.
Yes, any “anti-conservative” editorials are kept up on the site, and we welcome and will publish any editorial we receive (just ask Scott Fenstermaker), as long as it doesn’t contain bad language or graphic material, unlike the **************, who will publish horrible words in the hopes of producing clickbait.
I hope this clears up all the points made by the original poster. If you have more questions, email us at info@residentreport.com.
