Our 5 year old Kenmore (LG) refrigerator quit cooling yesterday. Tried re-booting it several times, no luck. Lights go on, humming noise, but no freezing or cooling. Very likely a compressor issue. Anyone have theirs replaced, and by who? I do have a tentative service call for Sears, but that won't be until next week. If I could get it done quicker, I certainly would!

Becks, 352-245-3598

If you think it is a bad compressor, I would start shopping for a new refrigerator.

Have you tried any of the local appliance repair companies to see if they service LG, I have used Becks and Dave's with good results on our Whirlpool appliances.

I had the exact problem with our LG French Door Unit last April. Ours was just passed the 5 year warranty for labor but did include a new compressor free.
Here is the name & number to call if you want to be assured a good job.
Call Derrick at 407-448-4394 He is prompt & will do you a great job.

They do exist. But they're hard to find.

Or...a person could buy a refrigerator built to last. My brother called last month. During our conversation he excused himself to go grab a beer from the basement refrigerator--an International Harvester refrigerator made purchased by my parents in 1947, the year before I was born! It has been ticking away faultlessly ever since.

Probably outlive me.

I guess "built-in obsolescence" was pretty much a foreign concept back then.

Absolutely not true.

I use Bob's Appliance Repair, and I've recommended him to many of my customers.

This guy is excellent.

Jerry Thibedeau 346-233-7175 is capable and intelligent. I will call him first with our next appliance problem. Good luck to you. We had a reflgerator problem that turned out to be a faulty thermostat.

5 to 7 years is the expected life. Get a new one. Most new appliances are junk. Watch Bens appliance repair channel videos.

12 years now on our LG French Door Fridge with no issues at all. Looks like I am a lucky one. Probably stupid to post this as I am sure my luck will end.

Have used Jerry several times; prompt response, third generation skills and very reasonably priced.

If you have an older model that works keep it. The repair channel said whirlpool the last few years was terrible. Only exception was the commercial technology version.

Perhaps why new construction changed to GE. GE 2022 models were rated by repairmen the best of a bad lot

Their advice is to buy a unit with the least amount of bells and whistles
