Welcome. Been on Talk of the Villages since July of 2007 and here in the Villages since June of 2005. And in Florida since March of 1996.

But, admittedly from my post count I do not get out much.

Welcome! But you might consider some colchicine or allopurinol for that gout :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

What "pharmaceuticals" are you talking about?

We've been able to prescribe just about anything forever...

With that stellar resident resume, you should have to pay ZERO activities fees and get Xmas presents from the owners.

Gee, when I was in NYS in the 70's podiatrists could certainly prescribe if I recall correctly. I looked it up, and they definitely can now as long as the medication relates to a foot problem.

NYS Podiatry:Practice Guidelines:Prescribing and Dispensing Medications (https://www.op.nysed.gov/professions/podiatry/professional-practice/prescribing-and-dispensing-medications#:~:text=The%20licensed%20podiatrist%2C %20as%20authorized,purpose%20of%20treating%20the%2 0foot).

using google scholar, easily found that a survey of podiatrists in 1974 showed that 90% of them prescribe drugs
Trends in the Podiatric Profession: A Comparative Study of the 1970 and 1974 Survey Data
L Greenberg - 1978

See also page 13 of Podiatry manpower; characteristics of clinical practice, United States, 1970 (https://stacks.cdc.gov/view/cdc/12800) wherein 87% of podiatrists prescribe meds in 1970.

So just methinks your certainty that podiatrists were not prescribing in NY before you retired, is..... wrong.

I think you are wrong there. Of course, the range of pharms they can Rx for is limited to their field of treatment. They might have to answer some questions if they Rx'ed Valium for a bunion.

Pre-op, most certainly. Post-op? Nah, that's when we give the good stuff...
