I want to take my elderly parents out for a drive to see Christmas lights, can anyone suggests best places / neighborhoods where there are a lot of houses with Xmas lights & decorations? I'm fine driving anywhere within a 20 mile radius of the Villages, so Leesburg, Tavares, Ocala all work for me. Thanks!

I would guess that up north where the homes are older and less expensive you would have a better chance of seeing that type of action.

I read that and thought the same thing... then thought (have NO idea if this is correct) maybe what they meant was that when we built our home near Lake Sumter the prices were about 1/3 of what the same house would sell for now, so perhaps the thinking was people who are now coping with homes that cost 3 to 4 times that would have less to put into displays and a significant electrical bill ? Just trying to decipher the reasoning.

The Villages Daily Sun used to print a wonderful Christmas light trail map and list of homes. It was such a nice gesture, our neighborhood really looked forward to it, we'd form a golf cart train, view all the lights going through the various villages, and then go to a location for hot chocolate and snacks. Don't know why the Daily Sun stopped this much appreciated feature... or we just have over looked it for a few years now ?

A golf cart parade came through our neighborhood tonight to enjoy the lights at the houses up here in the old section. It was great to see so many folks out on this chilly night! Must've been around 50 golf carts, some also lit up and decorated, a bunch with drivers and passengers wearing costumes.

I was in on that parade. Randi and I love to see all the hard work you people put into making your houses look festive. We counted snowmen for a while and stopped at 275. There must have been a sale at Dollar General!!!

Too much traffic showed up in those areas and became a nightmare for residents. However they put on a golf cart parade this week starting at colony rc. Up north they still do a lot of decorating because they grew up with that tradition and keep it up until they are to old to do so. New generation are being raised with ourt any knowledge of God and have no idea there is life after death and a more wonderful life than this one.

So what's the age group you ASSUME this about? And do you say "THOSE PEOPLE" as you clump them all in one box?!!!!

There is a wonderful display just off 475. If you go north on 475 then turn left on 475B. It may cost to go through but you can see it from 475. Looks amazing. Good luck

Following is the location of just one display, but it's magnificent.

Lady Lake Chamber of Commerce
106 US-441, Lady Lake, FL

Hopefully your parents are mobile, because it's best to park the car, get out and walk around the small park they have decorated. It's worth the trip.

The Ocala Christmas Light Spectacular is located in the Florida Horse Park just south of Ocala. It is a 2 mile drive through event with elaborate light displays. $20 per carload.

Xmas lights tour we did last year - it looks like some folks have already posted parts, and this being from last year I haven't updated it yet. It is in ride order from to loop through the neighborhoods. We used it as a starting point, and made a lot of detours as we saw other lights on the way and around these.

I believe it’s the Village of Santo Domingo, at the corner of Enrique Dr., and Esparza place is a house with the lights and music synchronized. I think you turn your car into FM 106.3? Haven’t been there yet but a lot of people on Nextdoor were talking about it.

If you are going through Wildwood, On Main Street approximately across from the vintage train store (which is at 113 North Main St) the city has an amazing light display.

I had a home built 1888, just over 12,000 sqft under air (not counting coal room, safe room, wine cellar etc.. Our Village (where the tuxedo got it's name) put on quite a display each Christmas. Not sure what the cost of the house has to do with Christmas Spirit.

I have a low opinion of most people. Correct speech, thought etc. UGLY TRUTH, their real thought seems to slip out. Humor, stand up comedy, if that is what it is does not work in posts.

I would call the villages offices. I was not paying attention but I think there is a van doing a tour. Driving, looking at Christmas lights? There is that song Grandma Got Runover by a Reindeer. May it not be a golf cart looking at Christmas lights.

Yes, the villages puts out a holiday map of houses to see for the holidays. As far as the houses up north, there are several premiere communities that houses are over a million to two million dollars! There are no premiere areas down south.
