I don’t think we ever would have found this little gem of of a show had it not been recommended at a dinner with friends.
The episodes document a year of Jeremy Clarkson’s farming of his thousand acres in the Cotswolds.
I had never heard of Jeremy Clarkson, but, of course, I have now looked him up. Interesting guy. (I will leave you to read about him, too, if you don’t know either but find you like his show.)
The scenic shots are beautiful. The people involved in the farm are fun to meet. The day-to-day struggles and joys of farming give the viewer a lot to think about.
Like I said, we would have missed this one completely except for a recommendation — so this is now my recommendation to try it if you think you might like something educational and entertaining and fun to watch.

Yes! We loved it. It is entertaining, informative and funny. Some may find his ineptitude irritating to watch- we found it funny and endearing. Season 2 is in the works. If your looking for a show to watch, this one is worth a look. You'll know within 30 minutes.

Been watching Jeremy Clarkson's crazy adventures with his pals for years. I see he has branched out from his hilarious auto shows, some of which landed him in a bit of trouble. Will be watching this, thanks.
Jeremy Charles Robert Clarkson is an English broadcaster, journalist, game show host and writer who specialises in motoring. He is best known for the motoring programmes Top Gear and The Grand Tour alongside Richard Hammond and James May. He also currently writes weekly columns for The Sunday Times and The Sun. I live two miles from Clarkson's Farm.
Have spoken to his sidekick Caleb (who is a very smart cookie) on a couple of occasion when in town.
Clarkson is in trouble at moment over his remarks on Megan Markel.
He is an institution in UK, one of those love hate personalities.
There is even a group of fans that want him as Prime Minister.
I would vote for him, just for the entertainment value!
PS. I bet no one who has watched the Farm series understood a word old Gerald said!

It sounds like an interesting series, except for the fact it features Jeremy Clarkson. His hate and vitriol filled remarks towards Meghan Markle were inexcusable. Whether or not one likes or dislikes her, to say what he did in a public format was just despicable - bullying and misoginistic. We have so much hate and violence in our society, perpetuated by people like him. I would never support him even indirectly by watching his show.

After reading your post, I think that I am convinced to watch the show. Not a MM fan so I will probably find the show entertaining.

Some people get their kicks by perpetuating hate. Sorry to hear that. A sign of how far society has fallen. And anyways, this isn't about Markle. I'm not especially a fan. Its about hate being spewed by a public personality. There comes a point where its "over the line". Can't one just say I don't like her because of "x,y,z". Does she have to be compared to a serial killer and people are encourged to throw excrement at her". Seriously? What is wrong with the guy, and what is wrong with some people that think that its acceptable to incite violence and humiliation on a woman? Of course Jeremy Clark has been in trouble many times before for ethnic and racial slurs, discrimination lawsuits, etc. I'm surprised he's still on the air. Of course, maybe that's short lived.

Good morning, Two Bills,
You are there! The beauty of the area is stunning. Makes me want to plan a trip back to England. Perhaps Mr. Boomer and I will pop in and stay at your house for……..ohhhhh……maybe ‘bout a week or two. ;)
I have a question that you can answer for me . Is that a dialect Gerald has, from a specific area, or is that just how he talks? Or a bit of both?
(I did not know about Clarkson’s rant on the situation with the royal family until just yesterday when I was telling my daughter Boomette about the show I liked so much. Well, I was then informed by her. She said she thought he apologized, at least. I have not looked that up yet. Maybe I won’t.)
A few days ago, I did read that the farmers are happy with the show because it documents what they go through, trying to make a profit. He talks about that at the very end and shows compassion — seems that, maybe, he is not a total ass…..er, arse.
Caleb is my favorite. You’re right. He is very smart and definitely knows his worth. (I keep worrying though about whether he is wearing sunscreen. He is so fair.) I also wonder if he is being chased by women there now. He is not only funny, but he knows how to do useful stuff……..Maybe a good woman will make sure he wears sunscreen. :)
We will be tuned in when the second season starts.

We are very lucky to live here, it is a wonderful area, and with a lot of history.
The Cotswolds were once the wealthiest area in England, when wool was king.
Property is very expensive, but we were lucky to find a vacant hovel to live in.
You are more than welcome to pop in.
Regarding Gerald. No one understands a word Gerald says, definitely not a local dialect.
Local beer is pretty potent though!

Also, although I'm sure you aren't interested, BBC dropped Clarkson after he was responsible for an unprovoked physical and verbal attack that left a colleague bleeding and seeking hospital treatment.BBC said he had "crossed a line". Prior to the attack, Clarkson had been on a final warning after using the "N" word on the air. Yeah, he sounds like a lovely person. :undecided:

I guess this makes me a Troglodyte but I have no interest in a performer's actions or history outside of the entertainment they are providing. If this guy was mean to MM (who I like), or he is a blow hard that spews stupid things, I don't care. If he's an entertainer and I'm entertained... I'm OK. Feel free to scold me- it will simply roll off. I'm at an age where the opinions of others has faded to a shadow

Well, I looked. And please don’t be so quick to make assumptions about my opinion of what he wrote. Yes, it was stupid, crude, despicable, and hateful. Just another loudmouth egomaniac. There sure are a lot of them everywhere, famous ones and those who are not the least bit famous — but all of them feeling welcome to run their mouths, letting it all hang out. Ugly stuff. (shudder)
I have not been watching the latest royal saga. And I won’t. (I do watch historic stuff about the English throne though, like The Crown and Victoria.)
And I will watch Season 2 of Clarkson’s Farm because I think it is well worth watching and we know a little about farming and the countryside is so gorgeous to see and the people who help him are such likable characters…..although, in my mind’s eye, I will have to separate the real-life Clarkson from the show. I can do that. (sigh)

Hey OP,
Thanks for sharing, have watched it and enjoyed it very much!!! Still in season 2, his permit for the restraunt was turned down, but still a few episodes to go yet in season 2. I did not expect the community to vote against the restraunt as he was planning on using local farmers to support it.
Thank you for sharing your experience as would not have tuned it if it was not for your post/thread!!!

I separate the entertainer from his or her work and only really skip stuff if they are very closely meshed together. Great actors and actresses lose themselves in their roles and really have no opinions other than those of the screenwriters.

It’s not so easy for me to separate the actor from their role. Clarkson’s remarks have tainted him for me. I enjoyed the first season of Clarkson’s Farm as I knew nothing of the guy himself. Now I have to look at him with different eyes.

Taking another example, I can enjoy Mel Gibson's work in Hamlet , Braveheart and Hacksaw Ridge without thinking about some racist comment he has made in the past. Or even in the present.
I enjoy the show and of course Clarkson who has just an enormous personality and a made for TV face and voice. Bravo

I have to agree with Velvet in this case. I think the difference between Mel Gibson and "Hamlet" and Clarkson and is that "Clarkson's Farm" is a Reality show and, as such, Clarkson's role cannot be separated from his personality. That's something I could do with Mel Gibson and Shakespeare, but probably not Mel Gibson in his own reality show.

Don't think Amazon is funding a season 3 due to the recent events. Enjoyed both seasons, though.

There probably will be a final season 3.
Clarkson may step aside and leave the running of farm in Calebs hands, with a few new characters added.

That is an interesting take and could be a good way for Clarkson to go. I think he probably gets bored with local politics and Gov. regulations.

There seems to be so much of this in the world with talented people saying stupid things,
then fading of the face of the earth.
Or it's better to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission.
Ex: Will Smith, Matt Laurer, Bill Crosby, O.J. Simpson and so many others

I agree. I try VERY hard to NEVER read anything about a Hollywood or any actor. I only read reviews of the show or movie. I am now about 20 minutes into "Tar" ( I like the short title). So far it is like a documentary about a SPECIALIZED talent....as such, so far, it is NOT really anything special. (other than Cate B. is a good actress) But, I will continue with it because it MAY show potential.

I agree. I don't care about his remarks about MM, although I do find them asinine. However, I do understand why some people can not separate the entertainer from his private life. There are few entertainers who I so loath that I can't even bear to see their faces in a photo.

I love the show, but I have to put the closed captions on the TV. Otherwise it's gibberish.
