Preferably one that makes Hungarian sausage. Is there such a thing in the area?

Did you try the polish deli? Other than that Tampa or Sarasota might be the closest

I buy my British sausages online. Do a search for Hungarian food and I am sure you will find what you need.

I just did a quick search and came up with several online Hungarian food shops. This might be what you are looking for : Sweet Sausage Links 4/2 oz (https://www.snakeriverfarms.com/srf-sweet-sausage-links.html?utm_id=17861999681------&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid-performance-max&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KCQiA-oqdBhDfARIsAO0TrGFLG_GtkFmVS6RUOtzThV-KpplCCuEUC3Ahc5MUUl1yOEnZ2dpI3XIaAq85EALw_wcB)

Great place. Their hours are 9 - 6, I believe, but do be aware they are REALLY busy this time of year. We went there twice yesterday trying to get goose pate. The first time, the line was so long; someone told my husband they had been waiting for almost 3 hours. My husband left, and came back at 4:00. Still almost an hour wait. They’re worth it. But just be aware of that.

Wasn't there a Polish deli on 301 in Wildwood just north of the Turnpike? I haven't been down that way in a while. They could be out of business.

The Polish restaurant on 301 just north of the Turnpike (in front of the Comfort Inn hotel) went out of business. The building has been converted into a really good sports bar called Lollygaggers.

GOOGLE is always a great option. We ordered cheese that's fresh and it came quickly packed to keep it that way.

like many other ethnicities, this is Florida not so diverse in food markets, you'll need to ship in those types of items. The only ones in Florida are Hispanic, Asian, Italian, German, Polish. I've been all over the state traveling for work, I'm always looking but this is all I ever find...and they all aren't good either.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the replies. Where we come from, Akron Ohio, these markets are plentiful. Hungarian sausage comes in two forms, fresh and smoked. We have been making Pork and sauerkraut with some fresh Hungarian sausage every New Year’s for nearly 50 years. We called the market “Al’s market “ and they don’t ship. I calculated buying it, packaging it, and shipping overnight and it would probably cost $20 a pound. I guess I’ll have to substitute something else.

Check the Sawgrass Market near the Ezzel Rec Center. There’s a butcher store there. Not sure about your specific request but they might be able to help.

I have purchased good sausage from this butcher shop in Orlando. They had different things such as stuffed meats and I had a few products that I liked such as Italian sausage. You can call them to determine if they have what you would want. The time I was there there was a line to get into the place as they do serve some of their sausage and other products at their deli counter. They are near I-4 and the Turnpike in Orlando and are a small shop. The owner was very nice and took time to discuss what they had with us.

Hollerbach's in Sanford. The Deli is behind the restaurant. Not sure about the Hungarian selection though

That place looks interesting even if they don’t have what I want.

Don't give up on buying and shipping. It took me a couple of years before I found a real British butcher with decent shipping. I get free shipping after I spend $95 and delivery is within three days. There must be other Hungarian people here who have overcome this. Good luck.

Today it just happens that I am waiting at home, and as I am a retired researcher I thought I would take a look for you. I found something very promising: magyadeli.com in Englewood, FL. They are an online Hungarian Food Store and look very interesting.

When I did the search I typed in Hungariaan foods shipped and brought up several companies that ship across the country. Just make sure you check out their shipping prices.

Here is a recipe.

Homemade Hungarian Sausage a family recipe by guest Chef Peter (https://myurbantreats.com/main-course/hungarian-homemade-sausage-kolbasz-recipe/)

You can use a food processor in place of the meat grinder, I'm sure they use all these pieces of pork when their making a large batch but I'm sure if you bought a pork butt it will have a good mix of meat to fat. If you don't have the means to stuff the casings just use the sausage as is in your recipe, you might be surprised at how well you do. Order the spice online and give it a go.

Good luck, I hope you can continue your tradition.

My reply isn't about Hungarian sausage but it is related. There is a Hungarian Club that meets four times a year in The Villages at Saddlebrook. There is a potluck dinner at their meetings. Wonderful food! Often some people include sausage in the entrée they bring. Don't know if you have Hungarian ancestry in your blood or even if it's necessary to join the club. To increase the number of people in the club they made an attempt to include Eastern Europeans in it as well. By the way, I bought cabbage rolls from the Polish Deli in Leesburg to bring to one of the Hungarian Club potlucks. Good ethnic options there.

Probably not what you’re looking for, but there used to be a fellow selling polish sausages and products at the Brownwood Farmer’s Market. We purchased some sausage (he had regular and smoked) and kraut from him and it was delicious. Happy Hunting!

We went to Leesburg this morning, arrived at 9 to find out not open till 10. We went to breakfast and return at 9:45 to find about 15 people outside in line. We left about an hour later after getting what we went for, and I think we will be very happy. Next time we won't go around the holidays.

Get a good recipe and make your own. We make our own Italian sausage as most of what we find here is not as flavorful.

The best Hungarian sausages locally available are in Ormond Beach, about 1 to 1 1/2 hour drive. The name of the store is Deli’s Deli Daytona Beach, however it is only available thru the messenger app on Facebook. They are very responsive to messages and will send you their list of available items and prices. They will ship for a nominal price. I have used them several times- going to Ormond Beach to pickup my orders. They have the best hurka that I have found anywhere! Also very good kolbas , both smoked and fresh. I highly recommend them!!

Thanks for this info, but it brings up one of my pet peeves. I don’t do Facebook and never will. I’m amazed at the number of businesses that only promote themselves on FB, no websites.

I have been on FB at least 17 years and never have had a problem. It is easier for a business to create a FB page than paying someone to develop a website and maintain it. I had my own business and got more customers from FB than the web.
