Brownwood square is holding a New Year's eve party from 5 to 9, is it me or does this sound like a kiddie party. What about the next 3 hours? The Hooligans are not to be bashed, they are a good band. Just the hours.

The Hooligans did NYE on London time last year. They know their audience.

South of 44 is like a different timezone. Many of the parties start at 7-8pm and many people don't show up until well after that starting time.

December 31 can be quite cold here, and more than several hours in it might not be tons of fun. A good after party may well be the answer.

Entertainment hours are 5-9. Then meet up with friends for the remaining time. British time is fine with me

New Years Eve has always been amateur night anyway. There are enough people not ready to go to bed before ringing in the New Year, that at least one of the squares should celebrate at the right time. If you are near Sarasota we have fireworks and the dropping of the pineapple at MIDNIGHT. Welcome.

I believe Fernando De Noronha in Brazil is three hours ahead of us.

Guess most of you weren't here 18 years ago.
They used to have Rocky and the Rollers Play until almost 1
Am and the restaurant now occupied by Red Sauce let those with reservations go in and out to dance on the square. People would start placing long tables around the square starting at 3 am tne day before. Fights broke out over that. So the Villages decided
To ban that and instead they would rent tables instead to first. Come first served including non Villagers. Became a bigger controversy
And fights. The villages decide to punish everyone, like we truly are childen, by cancelling New Years Eve events past 9 pm forever more. That was about 15 years ago.

Half or more of the people will leave by 8:30.
I went to my first NYE party hear about ten years ago and was shocked when everyone began to get up at around nine to say good night.
Get used to it.
The Parrot Heads are having a party that goes to midnight. I think that they've open it to non club members.

The Hooligans @ Brownwood’s Paddock Square is the normal 5-9 pm at the square. There are numerous events throughout The Villages that night. FMK has NY Eve events at Harvest Restaurant in Brownwood , The Chop House in Lake Sumter & Belle Glade CC. They are ticketed events. There are others too. To suggest there is nothing going on after 9 pm ends up being a lack of research on your part!

I have very few problems with the Morse family but that was one of them , they just sent us to our rooms and New Years was no more for the villages . I do go to square on that night and usually end up at parties somewhere in villages or my own home , I don’t think I’ve ever missed seeing the new year in somewhere and New Year’s Day comes early for me most years as I jump off for 3 months somewhere else

 Remember it well. The first year the Water Front Inn was open, we booked a room New Year's Eve. Less than 6 miles from our home North of 466. I feel residents did it to themselves..... as they usually do. Easy to blame somebody else. I didn't see the Developers on the Square fighting.......:boxing2: Lol

It has always been that way - you need to make other plans for the 9-midnight timeframe. The squares are never open to that pandemonium.

I may be awake at 2 AM, but it would be misleading to say I was "still" awake.
I suppose if I am awake (again!) at 2PM I could take the opportunity to FaceTime my grandkids in Colorado on Mountain Time.

Courtyard villa in TV, a home in Sarasota County. Had considered full time retirement. After a few months I decided I was not ready yet. I also knew I did not want to go back to NYC. That is how I ended up in TV and Sarasota.

When we moved here in 2009 as seasonal residents in the winter, we embraced the Villages lifestyle and understood that seniors do things differently sometimes. Not hanging out until midnight on New Year's Eve was one of those things and we were on board with that. I never did like being on the roads after midnight on New Year's night. You take your life in your hands and I think it is no different here. Happy to celebrate before midnight. We stay home and watch on TV and have done that for many years.
One year, we did stay awake until midnight and long after that too. We were in Las Vegas in 2000 and celebrated the new year on the main strip. It was fun and I will always remember that experience.
