Plans have been submitted to build a CVS at the southwest corner of CR 466A and Powell Rd. It will be one of the outbuildings in the parking lot with Home Depot.

Thanks for the info, sadly we are approaching a drug store on every corner again, just like the 70’s. I know in a retirement community pharmacy is a big ticket, but don’t most scripts come mail order? It’s been at least 15 years since I picked up a script.
So far no mattress store, but there is always hope.:1rotfl:

I get all my prescriptions local. No mail order. I don’t know where you get “most”.

Isn’t that right across the street from a Walgreens??
Not sure if we need two drugstores that close.

Yet another nearsighted development decision from the City of Wildwood.
The Villages has enough sense to spread out similar businesses which is better for all.

Maybe it’s because I’m older but lots of times I don’t even know which drugstore I’m in .

Acorn Commercial Partners owns that property and is developing it. It is Acorn that has lined up CVS and Home Depot.
Acorn Commercial Partners is an LLC owned by The Villages Operating Co. -- the same TV Operating Company that develops commercial properties throughout TV.

Do you know if Acorn has any plans to develop south of Warm Springs? Lots of residents and almost no commercial space.

Interesting web they weave here for sure.
But my point was it is not in the best interest of Wildwood to approve competing business across the street from each other. There's no evidence the city has a unified commercial development plan.
No matter who builds it.

I pick up my scripts at Publix, never mail order. The diabetes medications are free.

The vast majority of prescriptions do not come mail order. It is a small piece of the pie, although your insurance company would like to make it a much bigger one.
I do wonder why CVS would be building new stores when they announced they would be closing many existing stores.

To- Wildwood commissioners. When will the roads be expanded to ease traffic problems with your unlimited commercial and housing blight’s? Thanks for the 4 or 5 story buildings you have decided to build . Turning into New York here. Follow the money. Try driving on 466A toward 301 at 730am- volume of traffic already a problem .

All this talk about a new CVS coming to 466A. I am happy to hear about it, now that I won’t have to struggle to exit the CVS in Wildwood. Why all the comments against another pharmacy? We have 8 Publix, 7 Walgreens in The Villages! On 466A we have Aldi’s, Publix, and Winn Dixie within a mile of each other. What really concerns me is the amount of residential & commercial construction going on. The traffic and congestion is going to be overwhelming!

Also a target, gas station, and fast food restaurant in the same area. Lots of traffic on 466a

Couldn't agree with you more. The City of Wildwood Planning Department and City Commissioners are way behind the 8-ball. Their own comprehensive growth plan have most projects starting in 2025 and later. By that time, the city might as well throw up their hands as the growth has already happened. We will continue to see blight and the effects of unplanned growth. And you cant say they didnt have fair warning about The Villages growth, they are the ones who approved it.

All State employees and retirees with the State health insurance MUST use CVS for drug prescriptions. We are thankful there will be a new CVS—there are not enough of them. The CVS in WIldwood can barely handle the load of customers.

CVS is usually in Target too. A new Target is being built in Trailwinds on 466a near this proposed CVS on Powell Road. This seems like poor planning to me.

Sad isn't it. Especial given the tax revenue accumulated from Villages residents who consume few city resources.
No one "redevelops" a run down 1970's era "downtown" area divided by a major multi-lane road.

I was previously told that a Home Depot was going up there. Home Depot makes more sense given the proximity to Lowe's.

The CVS will be on one of the outlying parcels next to HD.

Mail order delivers 3 months supply with our insurances. Publix offers only one month supply at a time. Mail order is much more convenient for us.

Gee, I wouldn't know about that. Between my husband and myself, all our routine medications are supplied by our insurance company by mail order. We do not have to go to a pharmacy for medication unless it is OTC or something ordered for an acute condition.

Commerce brings traffic. I still don't think traffic on 466A is a problem......yet. It is a breeze to travel on 466A no matter what time of day. Then again, I'm from NY, NJ and south Florida where there is REAL traffic.

How does Bushnell (with a population of about 3100) have a Walmart Supercenter and the southern section of the Villages have nothing? If Walmart can make money in Bushnell, they can make more money putting a store south of 44.
