I don’t know the names, but I think at least 4 championship and 3 executive are in various stages. At least 2 executive will open this spring.

The Villages has made several publications showing their plans, including the new golf courses. If you go to one of the Sales Centers maybe they can give you a copy of their publications.

Take a drive down Marsh Bend Trail and 470. They are digging in the planned course areas as far as the eye can see.

Why so many Championships as compared to Executives? Ratio wise there was 3 Executive courses installed for every Championship. Below the Turnpike they are putting in 5 Championships to 3 Executives? Southern Oaks is hardly utilized, what a waste having 5 Championships be less than 4 miles from the Bexly Bridge

That doesn't look like "5" courses, it looks like 2-3.
Of course, if they're anything like Southern Oaks it won't matter much, no one will want to play them.

Did they rebuild the entire course? Southern Star only has one par four and Yankee Clipper only has two par fours. What did they do with the par fives? If you took a championship course and turned it into an executive, you would have enough land for three executive courses.

Really? Didn't know that. But was it a championship or executive? They must have reconfigured the layout since the combined 18 holes have just a few short par 4s.

I think it started as an 18 hole executive but not 100% sure.
It started out as an 18 hole executive course with the starter shack in a trailer by the tennis courts adjacent to the current green of Yankee Clipper #5. At that time, Yankee Clipper #6 was hole #1. It was converted into the current two course configuration when the current starter shack was completed in the 2011 or 2012 time frame.

The map differentiates between Championship Courses, Executive Courses, and Pitch & Putt Courses or Short Game Courses. The Pitch & Putt courses are 18 holes and golf carts are not allowed - golfers have to walk. Executive courses are 9 holes and you can take a cart or you can walk.
There are no Executive Courses south of 44 and north of the turnpike - although we have one Championship course and one Pitch & Putt with a second "opening soon."

Yankee Clipper/Southern Star early on was definitely combined as an 18 hole Executive layout, with starter shack (office trailer) next to Seabreeze Rec. Center. We played it many times in the 18 hole configuration, it was never a Championship course.

Before they fix the championship courses up north, I think they should build some executive courses in the south. There are 13 executive courses north of 466; 16 between 466 and 466A; 7 between 466A and 44; and 6 south of the Turnpike. There are no executive courses between 44 and the Turnpike. I understand that they are building more executives south of the Turnpike but there are no plans to build any executive courses in Newell, Lake Denham, or Dabney.
But they love building pitch & putts and putting greens!

Have you noticed that big bridge connecting at least 3 executives currently in work just south of the.Turnpike that will be within 10 min of Sawgrass by the time they open? With more planned to follow?

I think if you live on the side where the courses are, you don't care but if you live on the side where there are no courses, you care.
The point was that they used to build courses in all areas. They built courses north of 466 and south of 466. No one ever said who cares what side of 466 you are on. They built them on both sides. If you live near 466A, you do care which side of 466 the courses are. Same with the Turnpike - if you live south, there are five courses and they are building more. If you live north of the Turnpike and south of 44 - this includes Chitty Chatty, Bradford, Baldwin, Richmond, St. Johns, Cason Hammock, Citrus Grove, St. Catherines, Newell, Lake Denham, and Dabney, there are none and they are not building any.
Also, I haven't heard any date on when these new courses will be open for play. Any idea? I am hoping for sometime next year but I haven't seen any information.
Check out the map. Between 44 and the Turnpike is a huge area. We only have two pitch & putts and two putting courses.

Not enough land. Most of the villages North/East of the Turnpike are quite narrow compared to the South/west side...
No room in Chitty Chatty or Bradford. Once you get to St Catherine, Hawkins, Cason Hammock and Citrus Grove (where things widen up), you have Southern Oaks.
Once you pass Citrus Grove, you have the narrow villages of Newel and Lake Denham... No room for multiple Exec courses...

My husband plays championship three to four days a week. No interest in paying more for the course, turnpike noise and not wanting to drive that far. Seven courses between four sixty six and four sixty sixA. If ghe is going to go further Tierra Del Sol and Glenview.

You have to have land to build golf courses....south of 44 above the turnpike the only undeveloped land is marshland......once the new bridge over the turnpike is completed later this year, there will be pretty easy access to the new proposed executive courses on the other side of the turnpike.

As JMintzer said, the geography was probably a big factor. They surround golf courses with premium lots for $250K+ so not much room on those areas to do that.
What other areas in the Villages have 4-6 exec courses within a 2-3 mi radius of each other?
As far as opening date, they are sculpting the land scapes now so probably 1-2 years away.

Golf view lots sell for a $250k+ premium.
Anyone paying that premium obviously is not paying attention to the travesty that happened at Hacienda Hills. The premium paid could easily evaporate with a few swings of a wrecking ball and some strong arm twisting of zoning board members.

looks like Meadow View will be the next championship to come online - drive down the turnpike, it looks like they are working there and on the executive (Laurel Oak) just north of it.
I know the HS golf team is NOT planning on playing at the new courses this fall - and the range won’t be available for them.
The important thing for golf courses is the grass growing season - need to be sure grass is in the ground for strong roots. I think that time is the spring (mar/April) in florida.
So my guess is course being seeded/sodded next spring, grow through the summer 2024 and opening fall/late fall 2024.

As was explained, earlier in this thread, the land mass east of Marsh Bend is not large enough to fit an executive course, as it hugs the turnpike...
But, if you really meant Morse/Meggison, the answer is the same... The villages there are long and narrow, not large enough for the executive courses...

Check out the map - there are four courses in the NW corner that are very close. 1, 6, 22, and 40.
Check out 466 and Buena Vista - 3, 8, 14, 26 and 30 are all very close.
Look west of Buena Vista and south of Lake Sumter. There are nine courses within 3 miles.
And then look at Morse and 466A - there are four courses within a mile of each other.
