Does anyone have a suggestion regarding how to keep your outdoor (Christmas) strand lights from popping a circuit? I know what causes the problem is water and I have put child-proof plastic plugs in many of the end plugs and tried to have the other end plugs connected to another strand pointing downward so water doesn't flow in but it seems like no matter what I do, when it rains, they pop a circuit and the lights don't work. Very frustrating!!!
Thanks in advance for any help possible.

We threw out our old sets because of that this year. The new sets have different sealed connections and stayed on during rain.

I arrange the plugs in a manner that allows me to place a plastic bag over the connection, I have not had a GFCI trip in several years.

Does the receptacle in which you're plugging the lights have an in-use cover. The issue might be caused by moisture entering the receptacle at that location if in fact it doesn't, and rain/moisture is entering.
