Does anyone own the Meze Empyrean Elite headphones or know where I might go locally to listen to them? I am also interested in the Focal Stellia headphones. Feel free to send me a private message. Thanks

With MSRPs of nearly $3,000 each, you're probably not going to find these bad boys at Best Buy! Honestly, I don't know of any audiophile equipment dealers in the area. Sales on that kind of thing has really moved online, which certainly makes it hard to try anything before you buy. You may have to buy direct from either or both and hope they both have very generous return policies.

3Gs for headphones? yeah, might want to give those a listen before you spring. Which brings to mind a question my cronies and I were pondering once. We all had nice "stereos" in our college days. Turntables, reel-to-reels, pre-amps, amps, and tuners..., I had a very nice set of Bose 901 speakers. Nothing like listening to a brand new vinyl LP and hearing the timbre of the snare drums....
So the question: We don't hear all of that anymore. Is it because we are all listing to streamed music with inherent fidelity loss, on wireless speakers, or is it because we are old and can't hear those high frequency sounds anymore? If we were to spring for a fancy component system, and vinyl or CD, would we be able to notice a difference anymore?
