We live in Hammock at Fenney and use 301 a lot. Does anyone know if they’re ever going to open up the right turn lane from northbound 301 to eastbound 44? I think that could help alleviate some of the ridiculous backup on 301.

Their too busy building sidewalks no one will use.

Clay Drain Rd can be used as a bypass to 44 at Spar.

The left turn lane is also a problem, not long enough to handle the amount of cars turning. Sometimes the center lane can’t move because there are people trying to get into the turn lane, worse when a couple semi’s want to turn. Also, I’ve seen 301 backed up way past MBT going north.

Maybe the State should redesign and enhance that intersection. While they are at it they could also resurface 44 from 301 to the Lake County line.

old designs break with very rapid growth! happens with many other systems. . .
rural florida road designs can't support the sprawling urban development is a long term concern should not be a shocker,
but a result of an independently planned community by the developer, and the external support structure is built and maintained by the state. . .

is becoming the one drawback to living in TV if you travel outside TV a lot. . .

If really backed up, Clay Drain Rd works just great.

I've observed this as well. It seems like they should at least experiment and see if increasing the left turn signal at 301/44 by 10-15 seconds during weekday afternoons might improve things.

I think we will see many changes to Wildwood in the next 5 or 10 years.

A lot of people living in The Villages south of 44 pay property tax to Wildwood every year, so I guess Wildwood is getting a lot of money from them.

Along Powell Road, which I think is the eastern boundary to Wildwood, there are a LOT of houses being built and they are starting to build a new Home Depot.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

When you complete 400 homes per month, the state/county planners can't keep up with that pace for road access.

You can have all the turn lanes you want, but until people tighten up at lights, few will be able to get to them. I've never seen so many people who stop at a light and leave a car length between themselves and the car in front of them. Because of all the space, they leave other drivers stopped out on moving traffic roads, unable to get to the turn lanes. Tighten up people.....

Those homes and those roads are planned years in advance.

301 is scheduled for a redo to 4 lanes in 2025.

It looks like the construction will be completed much later than 2025. The Right Of Way phase is scheduled for 2026/ 2027. Construction comes after ROW property acquisitions. The document below is from June 2022.

The problem is that traffic going north on 301 is stopped at the 44 intersection red light blocking the entrance to the left turn lane so those wanting to go west on 44 can't get to the green arrow and when the northbound traffic gets the green light the arrow is red and now those wanting to go west block the northbound lane. The fix would be to have the northbound and westbound lights green at the same time and next do the same thing for the south and eastbound lanes.

44 is being resurfaced as we speak. One lane done from the Plaza almost to Morse. Hopefully, they'll complete the whole section to 301.

PPPPP is directed at this problem. The state should have planned the upgrade south of 44 for 301 for sooner since TV is growing leaps and bounds, thus the upgrade could have been done already, rather than 2 years from now. Snowbird season will be traffic nightmare for quite a while longer, my friends.

T V is changing 470 to have round abouts which will force the massive number of huge trucks using 301 to 470 to the Turnpike South toward Miami to go elsewhere. Where will those enroute have to go? 301 to the North / South Turnpike. The chaos has NOT even started on 301 as most intentional Northbound trucks use 301 to the Turnpike N right now of course some S bound are in the mix too.

T V makes sure we can swim, play pickleball, cards, golf and MAYBE shop at Publix the day we close on a house. Shopping and traveling outside of the Bubble is NOT any type of priority. Perhaps we need to ride share or have a V bus from S of 44 up to 441 where you can actually do your shopping until 2025 when Wildwood turns 301 into God knows what.

Yeah, that is going to be interesting.

Billy-Bob is used to driving 65 MPH along 470 when he leaves his job in Leesburg and heads to his home in Bushnell, Sumterville, or Lake Panasofkee. He will not be happy cruising thru a roundabout at 20 MPH. I guess we will see how it works out.

Plus traffic taking children to and from there new Charter Schools.

Hope they set up School Buses to bring students South where possible.

There probably was opportunity to build a 470 bypass road, especially since they are rerouting most of it. But that opportunity is gone.

If my memory serves me correctly…….when we were taught to drive, a car’s length was the proper amount of space to leave between two vehicles. This is the safest. If one were to get rear ended, your chances of not hitting the car in front of you are much better than being a foot away from their bumper. Why the hurry? Isn’t best to be on the safe side? It’s not all about you and not being patient enough to sit through another light if need be. Don’t worry, you will eventually get where you are going.
