Went to Spanish Springs the night of 1/16/2023.
Some kind of country/western band was playing.
I wish I could remember the name, but it was SO LOUD my eardrums got blasted out and my brain rattled!

Seriously, not sure who sets the volume on those speakers, but for sure that band was way over the safety level. There weren't too many people there, probably because of the volume. I know we're all old but it was bad, feel sorry for those who danced there.

It was way over a safe level for sure.

Oh my, who had “we are complaining about the noise at the squares” on their TOTV bingo card?

Wasn't it pretty cold that night, as well?

Sound levels are typically set when expecting a large crowd of people, as the bodies will absorb much of the sound waves. And empty venue with the same levels will sound much louder.

That said, a good sound guy should adjust the levels for the room (square)...

Another night of LOUD music at Spanish Springs Square.

We were sitting outside on the patio at Margarita Republic. I don't know how accurate the sound test is on the iwatch is, but it would bounce over 80db about 1/4 of the time , occasionally as high as 91db. Very loud. Much too loud.

Country & Western music should keep the non amenity paying public out!

Most bands set their own volume, and the volume is set far too high. I believe the reason for this is simple, many band members are nearly deaf. Decades of loud music has ruined their hearing. What might be excruciatingly loud to you and me might sound quite soft to the one making the sound, also most speakers are aimed away from the band. I know the event organizer or person paying the band can “force” them to lower the volume but they will do so kicking and screaming.

Yeah, that's how it is these days.

When we got here in 2016, we used to enjoy going to the Squares to hear music, but it got too loud and we stopped going.

I'm on the opposite side of this. The last time I went to hear The Hooligans at LSL the volume was so low we were in the seats in front and could easily talk to each other during the songs. WAY too low. Rock and Roll is best when it's a little loud.

I'm in my 70s and if it's too loud for you, you are too old.
