Went there before Savannah show last night. Had 5pm reserv and they took us to our table quickly. Bottom line service and food was A+.

But the background noise was terrible. I have normal hearing but the din actually hurt. There was no sound deadening materials to absorb the db. Went with another couple and all agreed, so loud. It took away from a great venue.

On the way out I stopped at the front desk and complimented the manager with thumbs up for the food and service. Told him about the loud surroundings. He said “I know…”. Didn’t want to press the topic but. Then we went to see Rocky & The Rollers who were Great! And loud but that comes with the territory.

Consider the noise topic re Glenview as constructive criticism. Anyone else feel the same re Glenview???

Aren't pretty much all the country clubs the same - very loud, terrible acoustics?

Every country club in TV I've been in, is the same. Very poor accustics.

Just a thought, but with a lot of older folks around, I suspect there's a lot more "loud talking" than a typical restaurant/club.

We’ve dined in most of them, but Glenview was OMG. Some sound absorbing material panels on the ceiling and walls would help a bit.

Agreed. Glenview is baaaaad when it comes to noise. Lopez is about the same (maybe a little less). We ask for a table outside, weather permitting. MUCH more relaxed and easier on the ears.

Yes, and they are not "country clubs". They are just restaurants. Regardless of what they call them.

No, just being accurate. A country club has members, membership dues, and quiet areas where you can sit, play cards, games, or just to socialize with other members, and you don't need to order food. The Villages so-called "country clubs" are restaurants that are open to the general public, and only available to people who buy drinks or food. They are restaurants, not country clubs, and they should not pretend to be country clubs.

We enjoy eating at this “Country Club” but have never noticed excessive noise. We do enjoy the food and service.

But what else would you expect? Crowds + good food + good service = enjoyment, which promotes conversation. Each to their own, but I would never complain about hearing other folks enjoying themselves at a restaurant. Just MHO

Consider the noise topic re Glenview as constructive criticism. Anyone else feel the same re Glenview??? Yes I’ve experienced this at Glenview, as well as other restaurants in The Villages and elsewhere. It’s a problem, and sometimes it’s more than a “collective din,” because I’ve had tables right next to mine where the guests are talking and laughing at a really high pitch. Frankly it’s disrespectful and a power grab. It can also ruin a meal. And when this happens, it’s not even kids! Just “big kids” who could care less that they’re disturbing others!

It is not just the country clubs that are loud but most restaurants also. I believe it is all the hard of hearing patrons trying to talk loud enough so they can hear. Not sure sound deadening can fix that. Nancy Lopez put up sound deadening awhile back didn’t help much.

Four of us had reservations for Glenview's patio last year and I couldn't believe how loud the band was. I've never been so happy that they were 2 hours behind schedule so we left. Lopez was heaven.

Yes, and they are not "country clubs". They are just restaurants. Regardless of what they call them. You’re right! These restaurants give the illusion of a country club because they usually have golf courses attached to them. It’s a smart move on the part of developers, who wanted to create a sense of exclusivity by providing the “feels” of a country club.

They recently did a total remodel of the bar area. They have acoustic tiles in the ceiling & the new floor is also designed to have sound deadening qualities. The result is the bar is much less noisy than the dining room. We always sit in the bar.

I agree most of the country clubs are loud the two that I found are fairly less so are Evans Prairie, which tables are not sitting on top of the bar and are more separated A second choice is Arnold Palmer's the tables are not as separated as much as Evans Prairie but if you are not near the bar, you can actually hear yourself think.

I’ve had the same experience, and so have friends of mine. That’s why I don’t go there anymore. It’s just miserable when I can’t hear what anyone is saying. Why not hire a company to fix the problem?

Agree. Very loud at Fenny Grill too. Not sure why the designer thinks it makes an enjoyable experience. Wish they'd add some sound softening elements. Doubt we'll go back to any of those spots.

The common denominator of any of the restaurants is they're noisy! We recently ate dinner at Havana CC (inside) and it was way too noisy! We were alone but there were many who were with friends. I think no one was talking in a normal range. THEN when we left the din from the live entertainment on their patio was even worse. How can any of it be enjoyable. Noisy restaurants have been a factor in the 13 years we've lived here. I wonder if in cities we all moved here from this is also the case?!

A name on the door (Glenview) rates a Bigelow on the floor. My whole career in the church music business was spent on getting rid of sound absorbing material to encourage better singing acoustics. Since we don't sing in a restaurant I'd suggest carpet and sound absorbing panels. After all, we want to enjoy the conversation at OUR table, not the entire restaurant!

I dont know why the restaurants around here think they need a band to attack customers. The last thing I want when Im going out to dinner is some karaoke band and singer making my ears bleed.

Lopez can be just as bad. Music starts every day after 5pm except for Sundays. We go on Sundays sometimes and found that they turn up the volume of the canned music on their speakers. They will turn this down if you ask them.
There are a few tables on the front porch to the right as you walk in the front door, which are tolerable.

I frequently have this problem in many venues. I discovered a product sold online called Loops. They are basically earplugs, but don’t block the entire ear canal opening. So they reduce the volume by about 20%, or more, depending on which model you choose. I carry them in my purse and use them frequently. They have saved many outings that would otherwise have been unbearable.

Realize 95% of the villages people/plus others have a hearing problem, each one talks louder than the other.. I also find most indoor places tend to be loud.. but understand the reason.. be thankful you still have good hearing.

There are some quieter restaurants here like Chop House. Especially the outdoor area. Pricey but worth it.

We have had dinner on the patio at Lopez during live entertainment and we couldn’t carry on a conversation at all. It has been likewise at other villages’ restaurants. I don’t get the point of having loud entertainment during dinner.
