Part of the problem is that we're now in the third generation of the Morse family and now they have to cut the pie into many more pieces. It will likely get worse; it certainly won't get better.

I remember being in Bermuda, 25 or so years ago. The boss and I went to a fancy restaurant, in an old mansion where the menus were printed on parchment paper, rolled and tied with a ribbon. Blue for the gentlemen and pink for the ladies. Only the blue ribbon ones had prices.

My wife commented on that there were no prices on the menu. I laughed, "Oh YES THERE ARE!!!"

She kept asking what things cost and I told her to order what she wanted, as this was a once in a lifetime experience, figuring we wouldn't get back to Bermuda any time soon.

I guess that proves that there are 2 kinds of people in the world.......the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS. I guess that tend to relate MORE to the latter group...........in ALL things from meals to golfing for a $600 fee.
......Those things would NEVER enter my mind. I would think that I could use that money to buy a boat and some snorkeling equipment, which I have done, and entered into the wonderful underwater world of a Florida coral reef........in 1973 when there WAS STILL living coral off of the MIAMI area. That IS my idea of a MAGICAL experience, one that I guided myself to and achieved an adventure.
......Personally, I see no, ZERO adventure in having a waiter guide me to a table and wipe my behind for me and then feed my FACE with food. That IS just personal, NOT my thing.
........I can see how someone MIGHT (?) LIKE a restaurant experience. It's not for me.
.........I can understand that there are "different strokes for different folks" and there are NO laws broken by trips to a restaurant. That's just NOT me. Give me the extra money and I will buy more tennis balls and maybe a new basketball and some new running shoes. And maybe I'll save up to DRIVE to Alaska and sleep in a tent with grizzle bear tracks nearby, which I have done.......different strokes.

Yes, and to add to that having a few ovens cooking food in one place probably creates less of a carbon footprint than hundreds of ovens scattered all over the place, and hence reduces that "dreaded" CO2 and global warming. Granted, that high-class restaurants exist so that proves that some people support and enjoy them. Attending restaurants has become an "American thing". We go to restaurants even MORE than the French who are famous for them. Like I said "different strokes" I just wanted to VOICE my side of the concept of "going out" to restaurants. I find it obsequious, which is a word wealth word that I don't get to use very often. I would guess that in the Villages that probably only 10 to 15 % of our lovely folks would agree with me (in avoidance of those dreaded time-wasters)......and money. I feel that my opinion IS an outlier - yet that's me and I am comfortable with ME !!!!!
