Save from the Newcomers website.

The cap is being raised on amenity fees. Everyone will not be affected at first, but on Jan 1, the prevailing rate became $189. That affects homeowners who closed on their homes after January 1, 2023, and all new homes built after January 1, 2023. The previous rate was $179. , The Villages is changing all pools from chlorine to salt,

Old news. The developer gets to set the prevailing rate. One of many things wrong with the contract between The District and the developer.

by a non-Villager who must be somewhat bitter about not being able to be here, because he monitors TOTV constantly, has over 400 posts, all pointing out something negative about TV.

Anyone who would think that amenities could be maintained to the standard they are maintained around TV, at a dollar figure established in the past, without regard for inflation, is delusional.
Of course, there is no shortage of delusional people, so we shouldn't be surprised at the outrage.

BTW, I love the salt water pools. I float like a cork in them. I actually thought I had learned to swim really well last winter, way better than ever. Then I got back home in May, jumped into my lake, and sank like a cork.

I guess I was among the deluded.

I think you meant “sank like a stone”?

I meant "rock", but either my fingers got ahead of themselves, or my spellchecker got ahead of me.

Yeah, cork would be great.

Yep!
Most of the world took a big jump at that same time, and many jumped a darned sight higher than the US!

Saltwater Pools: Benefits, Risks, and More (https://www.healthline.com/health/salt-water-pool)

A saltwater pool is an alternative to a traditional chlorine pool. Although you don’t add chlorine tablets to a saltwater pool, it does still contain chlorine. It just has a smaller amount that’s generated through the filter system.

A saltwater pool contains 10 times less salt than the ocean. There’s around 3,000 ppm (parts per million) salinity in a saltwater pool. By comparison, there’s 35,000 ppm in the ocean.

Some people find this type of pool less harsh on their hair, eyes, and skin than a chlorinated pool.

Jerry and Linda make about $1,500 a month from their Youtube channel. They aren't worried about the raise in fees in The Villages.

Maybe they should start charging amenities based on income. lol.
