Need recommendations for someone experienced at hanging lanai shades on stucco walls of a lanai. The first handyman said he was not sure about how to make the holes in the stucco and what might be behind it.

I have done this, there is a steel lentil beam under the stucco. What I had to do was use a concrete drill to go through the stucco, then a COBALT bit to go through the steel lentil beam, then a smaller concrete bit to finish the hole to the correct depth. I was using one power drill, so this took a long time with constantly changing bits. Also the concrete damaged the cobalt bit and the steel damaged the concrete bits, so I was constantly sharpening bits. It can be done, and there may be better tools, but it is time consuming work.

It's a pain. As Tinker said it's a lot of work because of the beam. What I did was use self tapping screws to mount the shade above the track of the sliders so as not to interfere with the sliding doors
