Your Tesla navigation screen will show all available places to charge and price per kilowatt. There’s superchargers at Wawa on 441/466 and Okahumpka.

Here are chargers about 10 miles from Marsh Bend. You will likely pay something to get on the Turnpike.

And this is one of the reasons I will not be an early adopter of the EV, if ever. No one ever asks "Anyone know of a place to get gasoline?"

I visited a friend in Chicago last month that has an EV (not Tesla, but he still paid $50,000+ for it). As we were making a round trip that exceeded the range of the vehicle, we would need to recharge. The agony and angst he went through, and put me through for this is not something I am willing to put up with. It got to the point that he kept the heat in the car at a bare minimum to extend the range. He wouldn't have run it at all if not for me being in the car.

No thanks.

There are two charging stations in front of Best Buy on 441. I have never seen anybody using them. It seems that someone took two handicap parking spaces and converted them. Everybody is doing this, women with children, people picking up merchandise, etc.

1. Maybe in the middle of nowhere. But I'm sure I would be directed to one within 5 to 10 miles. Middle of nowhere or even sort of nowhere for a charger? Good luck.

2. Bought in Fenny in 2018. Never had to ask where a gas station was.

Got to be a joke. A Tesla owner would never ask this. The car shows you where the supercharger stations are located.

It does seem odd for someone who lives in The Villages and can top off at home before he visits his friend. The Villages is big but not that big.

The supercharger at the Okahumpka rest stop a few miles south of the entrance from 301 can be reached without paying a toll and you can head north back to 301 after using it. Why not just charge using your friend's 110V outlet? You can add 100 miles per day.

I’m thinking that a small Honda generator would fit fine in the cars trunk or back seat. That way you would have a Mobile charging station that way when you stop for lunch (McDonalds) you could charge your car too. 😜

...and THIS is what the future brings? NO thank-you!! Too many haven't done due diligence to see that it still takes coal energy (somewhere) to power these. I'll stick with our gas-powered vehicle.

Question I ask....for folks on the frozen tundra---how does this work if you run out of "juice" from your battery and you're on a busy free-way or country road in sub-zero weather??

My guess is that the person asking is most likely renting the Tesla and doesn’t know the ins and outs …..

Or ,

He’s a troll just having a little fun jerking your chains !

I’ve had my Tesla M3 for about 1 1/2 years, comfortably and CHEAPLY charge at home and use a supercharger on a very rare occasion when taking a longer trip out of “The Bubble “ and surrounding area….;)

You freeze your Tesla off while waiting for a diesel powered truck to tow you away so you stop blocking all the ice vehicles trying to go around you.

I would think at home if you have a charge but just make sure it’s not a fast charger. Fast charging is how fires start. But answer you question & don’t want an EV, I would say take it to a dealer that sells EV’s.

YEAH! Sell your Tesla. They destroy lives and the environment, not to mention they're more expensive to own and operate the gas cars and need fossil fuel to make the batteries, charge them and destroy them. They also use child labor to make them. Buy a gas car!

1.In the posting history the OP tells us on 1-7-2021 he is new to The Villages.
2. He claims to own a Tesla (a vehicle with a 300+ mile range)
3. He is traveling from somewhere in The Villages to Marsh Bend and needs a charging station?!?!?!?

Maybe the OP would like to fill in some blanks for us before we continue........:mornincoffee:

EV's can be charged with the standard 110V that is in your home but it takes quite awhile.
I inquired about installing a charger in the garage capable of a fast charge for a Tesla. It has to be 240V......cost about $250. I'm getting some other wiring done before Munns insulates the Lanai and garage so they'll do it then.:MOJE_whot:

Closest Tesla charger is at Okahumpka rest stop. Your Tesla should help you navigate.

Make sure you enter the turnpike from Rt. 301. You can charge and return the same way and not pay a toll.

You must mean $250 to run the wiring and $500+ for the charger:

No , I’m pretty sure he meant $250 ….. you don’t need to buy a “Tesla home charging station “

I paid $250 to have Lenhart Electric install a 50 Amp breaker and a NEMA 14-50 outlet at the box . THEY supplied the breaker AND the outlet AND the labor for the $250. Half hour job , so they did ok money wise.

Then for $75, I purchased a Tesla adapter to go between the outlet and the supplied cable that came with the car .

So, with this Level 2 charging setup that cost $325 , I can charge the car from 20 % to 85 % in less than 4 hrs .

I do all of my charging overnight and Leesburg electric charges .09 per kWh

On the average, it costs me about $3.00 to “fill up the tank “ :)

There is some talk, in the early stages of a Plaid Model S becoming available from our oldest son in JERSEY! It would fit perfectly in our garage.

If he cuts me a fat deal. I'm in. Why not? If I don't like it I'll make money selling it.

He let me drive it and I brought it back to him in 15 minutes because it was over this old man's head. It's really unbelievably fast. The white interior is soooo comfortable and beautiful. I have to find out if it's the kind that you charge for free for life??????

Opinions are not wanted? I would not consider purchasing a Tesla until the range was at least 500 miles and can charge the car within say 15 minutes.

Very true but several times a year we travel to see our grandkids and for those trips a Tesla is not desirable to us.

That’s good, it when you get rid of it it will cost $10,000.00 in disposal fees.

I have a lithium ion golf cart. I love it. Makes alot of sense. It buzzes me all around the Villages without gas fumes.

For a car? I'm still trying to figure out what problem EV is trying to solve. An ICE vehicle does everything an EV does, without having to worry about finding a charger, hoping it works with my vehicle, or the time it takes to charge. In addition, if you need that charger late at night, there is a safety issue, depending on where that charger is.

Pollution and carbon release? The EV is only slightly better than ICE. Factor in the slave labor and reliance on China for the raw materials and I still say ICE is better.

So I'm not an electric hater, just skeptical of them replacing ICE, assuming the government just doesn't outlaw ICE or the refining of gasoline. And again, still trying to figure out the problem they are solving. They seem to create plenty of new ones.

Happy to let the rest of you beta test it. But remember "The early bird gets the worm, the second mouse gets the cheese".

I would rather have cheese than worms.

Does that include road maintenance taxes like we have to pay when we buy gasoline?
