For the record, today is a Federal holiday called "Washington's Birthday". It is not a Florida state holiday by any name.
Some states observe a state holiday and call it President's Day.

Florida recognizes today as Washington's Birthday by statute:
Chapter 683 Section 01 - 2020 Florida Statutes - The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/laws/statutes/2020/683.01)
see item g.
Also note that Florida recognizes the birthday of the Robert E Lee as a holiday as well as the birthday of Jefferson Davis, and Confederate Memorial Day.

Agreed. It is recognized, but it is not a paid state holiday.

Just another man made PAID holiday.
He is the father of our country and based on his actions and accomplishments definitely deserves the honor.

Back in the mid to late 1960s when I worked at the USPTO in Washington, D.C. and then in Northern Virginia both Washington's and Lincoln's (Feb 12) birthdays were celebrated although I do not recall getting time off. Huge sales were held on Washington's Birthday in D.C.. When I first moved to D.C I lived on Capitol Hill, not far from Ford's Theatre where Lincoln was assassinated. After I got married I lived a mile or two from Mount Vernon for a few years. I still celebrate both birthdays.

So is 4th of July & Thanksgiving and a whole host of others. If you look it that way, we might as well get rid of the religious holidays also.

virginia is rich in it's historical contributions to win freedom for the fledgling nation. Winners write the history books.
So do the losers.

I am a Virginian all my life. George Washington is actually my 11th cousin on my Great Grandmother's side. She was a Montague.
No problem with the honor, just the paid not to work holiday by the people working.

Many companies do not give a day off to honor two of the greatest American presidents, but give a day off for Martin Luther King and Juneteenth (my son's company does this). Not right.

You cannot delete a post, but you can delete all characters except three. Some people use ///.

Thank you so much. I deleted all the words, and asked my question in the OP's place.
I wondered why I see /// sometimes. <g>
