View Full Version : Ads disguised as posts

Either do as other forums do and identify the poster as a sponsor in the subject or stop this practice. I know all the financial reasons for this but I object to being tricked into reading an advertisement disguised as a post by a forum member. What do you think assuming you can find my Post among all the ads?

So far as I can tell, sponsored ads are listed as ads -- just check the forum from which a post is originated. I know this doesn't work if you simply review the list directly from a post, but if you click on "new posts," it shows the forum.

I agree, I found that Lake Weir "thread" offensive and not in the spirit of this venue.

All of the other ad posts that I've noticed are labelled as being posted by "ad poster". The Lake Weir posts are all labeled as posted by "Lake Weir Living" and the forum is "Lake Weir Living".
TH, do they pay extra for that? I mean, not being labeled "ad poster"?

The one I saw was not Lake Wierd. It was for something else and had a sensational topic subject. I wish I could remember but then again if I could I would not be living here. :)

Consider the possibility that allowing Lake Weir Living ads on TOTV is simply a clever marketing ploy by our esteemed developer.
By allowing the "Anti-Villages" development to promote their "advantages", they are also providing Positive Reinforcement for the decision-making process that made most Villagers what they are.
In other words, Lake Weir touts their lack of restrictions as a plus. The Villages markets their tight restrictions as a benefit and that particular benefit is one of the primary amenities sought after by most seniors transplanted here.

The developer of The Villages has nothing at all to do with this forum. They cannot allow or disallow anything on it.

Lake Weir Living has purchased a sponsorship forum on this site. Just like the Real Estate Companies that are here. They pay a premium price for the privilege and their forum is contained in a grouping that is labeled as paid advertisements.

No respect for satire?
Hmmm. I, too, missed the satire, and we sure didn't want that notion propagating.

Next time I will try to make it more obvious (although, I do not know how much more of a ridiculous premise I could have created).
I have noticed that every time Morse's name comes up, many on this forum are very quick to jump to defend him or to condemn him. Most of the time, the original comments are inconsequential and non-targeted, but somehow or another they ignite a fire of disproportionate discourse.
What do you think causes this agressive response to the mention of The Developer?

I don't mind the ad posts. The are obviously ads. They pay for TOTV, so we don't have to.

I know what my problem is. I always click on "New Posts" so I do not see the posts grouped in individual forums. I am more used to having the word "sponser" appear under the title of the post.
