That's a nice looking cart. I've got an Evolution two seater that I bought new back in September 2021. I like it well enough, but the build quality isn't/wasn't as good as the Lithium Ion carts I've seen sold at the Villages Golf Carts.

The other issues I've had include ride quality, which I improved with some aftermarket front shocks. Also had issues with the battery discharging too quick, which finally resulted in Villages Discount Golf Carts replacing the battery, under warranty. Seems to be working fine now, but the jury is still out for at least a few more months.

Finally, I hate getting passed by many of the other carts. Even though golf carts aren't supposed to go over 20 mph, and my cart is governed to that, many do. My neighbor who bought a brand new electric from Villages Golf Cart tops out at 23 mph. And gas models are regularly modified to go faster.

The new cart looks like they fixed some of the issues, but mine also rides very rough and you feel every bump. Were your shocks part of a "ride fix" system sold by a local company? If so, How was the improvement?
Thanks,
Marty

I know the "ride fix" you are referring. I did not go that route, I purchased shocks that were recommended on the Evolution Facebook board. Paid $70 on Amazon. It's not hard to do if you have the right tools. It doesn't turn the ride into a Buick, but it does even out some of the harsher bumps.

I have not done anything to the rear at this time. The fix seems to be shorter rear shackles on the leaf springs, but I've heard of some owners removing the shocks entirely and just riding on the leaf springs. I think the worst comes from the bumps up front, so for now, leaving as is. Here is the post from Facebook, hope it works:

Thanks for the follow-up. I can't believe I did not notice the bumps on the test drive. I bought mine from a private seller who let me drive anywhere, so my bad. Has anyone else tried the local ride fix? Everyone I talk with, who has a Evolution, says the exact same thing.
Marty
P.S. I already lower the air pressure to 15 and many people I speak with are at 10!

Don't feel bad. I should have noticed the same thing. Guess I just hadn't been around golf carts enough to know what I should really be looking for.

Otherwise, I like the look, and I opted for the radio/bluetooth set up which is nice. I really like the look of the wheels/tires vs some of the other carts. I do intend to look up the guy (also learned about on Facebook) that can dial up the speed a bit at some point. Not so I can be a speed demon, but just so I can keep up with the traffic on the straightaways.

Mine was second hand and goes 25, a little slow on pick up but.....

I'd take that. Looking for top speed, not 0 to 60 in 5.4 seconds!

I didn't see a golf club rack on the cart. Is it an option?

The gas modification SHOULD be ILLEGAL. And all that gas going down the cylinders puts more pollution in people's neighbors' lungs and then whoever buys THAT modified cart is getting RIPPED OFF with LIKELY a bad engine. The whole SICK concept stinks to the high heavens!

One person jacks up the speed on gas carts and others are FORCED to play follow the leader, like children. The POLICE are to blame because they do NOT enforce ILLEGAL MODIFICATIONS. I have seen gold carts go as fast as (an estimated) 40 MPH. And they are being a DANGER to themselves because I have seen them corner and almost tip over. Just a childish, STUPID practice.

"Forced"? No one "forces" anyone to do anything...

And still going with the 40 mph nonsense?

The Evolution carts are not as well built but they are half the price. There is not much tire sidewall so the ride is going to be jarring. The D3 is a classy looking cart.

Was passed by a lifted Yamaha with no muffler going about 35 MPH the other day...The guy even looked like a psychopath.

22 MPH is minimum in TV :)

True about the build quality, but it's a golf cart, not a car, so not too concerned. I was also thinking about looking for a different tire with a taller sidewall once the ones I have need replacement.

And I think I saw that guy. And yes, if you can only do 20, you are going to be holding up traffic, when everything from the Village's Golf Carts does 22-23 at a minimum.

By any chance was this on Hillsborough? If so, I’ve seen him too

We had him come out and adjust both our carts, including an Evolution. Best $200 we could have spent. We hated being tail-gated and passed going 21.

Going faster takes less time. So the engine is running less. Couldn't that be less pollution?

I find it interesting that everyone that gets passed by another cart seems to have a radar speed gun in hand - they always "know" how fast the other cart was going, and it's some ridiculous speed :)

Stating speeds of 35 and 40 is just plain ridiculous.

Thanks for the video. Looks like they are refining the craftsmanship. I have an Evolution that is serving me well. It was purchased in Nov 2021 through Villages Discount so still under warranty. I had a few issues and they retrieved the cart and promptly fixed the problems (two occurrences). When the warranty is up I will have them use their calibration tool to change the max speed setting in the Curtis controller. It is obvious that the maximum range will decrease when driving faster. This is due to higher resistive forces.

I went to evolution website and they don't show the D5
-Does anyone know the specs:
> battery size
> Price?

Guessing that the value will be significantly higher than the ClubYamEZ. The function of the Evolution is hard to beat (noting that the ride harshness requires the driver to be cognizant of road / ground disturbances. I figure i get about 70 miles/ 6kWh; and my SECO rate is ~.12 per kw, so I get about 100mi/$ on paper. i know there are some efficiency losses during charging, so I figure 90/$ , no maintenance, no trips to the petrol station, quiet, 0 emissions, no stink.

As I mentioned - they need to work on fit and finish. The steering wheel and side seat handles have flashing from the parting line in the injection mold - not comfortable to grip. The D5 looks like it has nicer seats and steering wheel - not to mention power steering.

I did see another youtube review that said the rear truck was removable and could be replaced with a powered refrigerator, or a golf club carrier.

So is that about the same size as regular carts. The original 4 front facing carts are to long to park were most carts can park, they need to park like a car which limits them a little.

Really?

I've paced carts doing 35+ in the diamond lane per the speedometer in my car.
