Our son lives not far from us and wants to start his own lawn maintenance.
He's gone through 2-3 lawn service Co's and wasn't satisfied with any and what cash in advance.
Only thing I know, Lowes and Home Depot have a lot of chemicals, granules, sprays that
I'm sure work for whatever problem exist.
I also think the biggest problem is timing, when to apply and how much.
With limited knowledge, does anyone tackle their own lawn care??

Yes, go to the "Site One" outdoor company in Leesburg and get advice from them. They are very smart and will lead you down the correct path. They offer everything you will need. And it's professional quality not that reduced levels the big box stores sell...

I’ve been doing my own lawn mowing, hedge trimming, edging, etc. for the past two years ever since our lawn guy died. But for weed control, fertilizing, etc. (also pest and bug control) I use Florida Pest Control. Not the cheapest (by far) but very reliable. They do what they say they’re going to do. My lawn was mostly dead s when me moved here going on three years ago now. St. Augustine Grass. But with care it came back and now is one of the nicer lawns on our block.
My only complaint about Florida Pest Control was that as good as their services are, their office people were not. The left hand didn’t know what the right hand was doing, so to speak. However they’ve gone to a new office system now that seems to be a lot better.

If he hasn't worked in this business for several years he can't get the proper license to do it. I very strongly advise him, from my own experience which left me $7,500 lighter, unless he can get properly licensed not to pursue this.
