Can anyone confirm there will NOT be a village swimming pool in Newell. The way the plans read, there will only be a family pool at the Franklin Recreation Center.

What is your definition of a "village swimming pool"?

An adult pool, a family pool, or a sports pool?

Newell is getting a resort style family pool in their recreation area. Don't know if there will be a neighborhood pool near the mail station or not should be pretty easy to find out by going to the mail station and see if they started digging, they are usually filled and ready to go before they start selling homes, and since they are already selling homes looks a little doubtful.

You can go to “ You Tube” and search for Gold Wingnuts video of The Villages Updates #121, which includes Newell at 22 minutes in. It doesn’t look like (from the air/what I can see) that there will be one apart from the one at Franklin Rec. the Villages website does not show one either.

You could always call the Villages or your realtor for definite confirmation.

Please don’t go driving around in the construction areas. You are trespassing and no one likes you being there. The streets are narrow and crowded with construction workers cars, trucks, cement trucks, construction equipment, delivery vehicles etc., Not to mention all the dirt and nails in the road. Seriously, don’t listen to the bad advice, stay away until the area is ready.

Newell and Lake Denham have not pool at their postal station, they will share the family pool at the Franklin Rec Center. There is an adult pool going in now for Dabney.

Each Village is a neighborhood, each neighborhood is a Village. Therefore my definition is a Village swimming pool.

That statement is complete nonsense.

Most Villages have an adult pool where no young people are allowed. We were at the St. Catherine adult pool a few months ago and a guy came up with a couple kids. The kids were not allowed in.

Some Villages like Marsh Bend do not have an adult pool, and unfortunately it appears Newell will not have an adult pool either.

It will have a family pool, hopefully as nice as the one at Homestead.

I am the admin for the Newell FB Group (Village of Newell (The Villages, FL) )- PLEASE JOIN.

As the great Don Wiley stated, there is no neighborhood (adult) pool in Newell or Lake Denham (although early videos showed one in Newell, I believe). Miss that in the PR? Me too. Besides the Dabney pool, Citrus Grove has a neighborhood pool about 4/10 of a mile away. Homestead (Family) and Ezell (Sport) are also nearby. Plenty of chances to get wet.

I’m really not surprised at all if they start limiting how many pools they put in. I am pretty shocked at the number of personal pools going in, especially considering the cost. There are at least 4 going in just in my rather small neighborhood at the current time.

One doesn't affect or influence the other. Many more pools will go in as people move in and contract outside the normal build process of the homes. In my CYV community alone there are 4 including my own, 2 of which I am amazed that they were able to fit them in, to say nothing of how they were able to get the equipment in and build them.

Which type of pool are you looking for is the question.

We have only been here for 7 years and I don't think I have ever heard the expression 'neighborhood pool'. To me, that implies the pool is built only for the people who live nearby, which is definitely not true.

We live in Osceola Hills and love to walk and bike in the Southern area. We often wear our bathing suit when we walk or bike, and then we hop in the closest pool to cool off afterwards. We like the adult pool at Citrus Grove very much, and the new family pools at Cattail and Homestead are especially nice.

They have always been and still are called neighborhood pools, not only by The Villages themselves, but by the CDD, and even on past threads here on TOTV.

I always called them neighboorhoods pools. Just looked at the recreation map - they are now called Adult Pools

It's one of those things that changed without any fanfare. Suppose it makes it easier for the renters to understand.

When we took a bus tour of The Villages in Oct. 2015, the lady leading the tour told us there were family pools and adult pools that do not allow young people.

Some of us surprised that the adult pools would not allow children, but she asked, if we ever get tired of hearing 'MARCO . . . POLO' at the pools where we live. I thought that was a good explanation.

I'd take the kids over some of the loud political discussion you hear at the noodle news :1rotfl:

It seems The developer has greatly changed the number of amenities in their development plan.
I live near Bailey Trail between the Sunset Pointe gate and the first stop sign at St. Charles.
In that stretch are 5 pools. Lake Miona (Sport) Sunset Pointe ( Adult) Hibiscus (Family) Cane Garden (Country Club) Poinciana ( Adult)
I can be on 24 different golf courses in less than 15 minutes, by golf cart. Four of them are championship. Cane Garden, Mallory, Palmer and Havana.
When I see discussions like this, where Villages are sharing pools, I realize how much the ratios have really changed in this current phase of growth.

Me too. We live near Sumter and have the same variety of amenities. Interesting to see how the Developer has cut back. That said, if you don't use the pools or attend pool related sports, it shouldn't be a problem. And many people are adding their own pools. Prospective buyers need to consider what activities they will be involved in and make decisions as to home locations accordingly. If you're a golfer, proximity to golf courses may be your priority. Or if you plan on playing softball, you'd want to be near softball fields, etc.

Not sure if they are cutting back or changing the amenities.
Around LSL/Brownwood - How many putting courses; pitch and puts; places like Ednas or Sawgrass; walking trails; softball or archery complexes; dog parks are closer together, there’s a pool at Fenney Grill. I am sure the are others -

I am not advocating one way or the other, I live north of 44, and could have bought south of 44. I am just saying, they talk to residents, people who left, and change.
Even north vs south of 466 - there are differences - biggest example is how golf carts share/dont share the road on places like Morse Blvd.

No need to be defensive. each area has their own amenities and as I said, it’s whatever suits your level of activities or your preferences. Sumter has Garvinos jazz bar. Softball practice is just a short golf cart ride away, Sumter has the only movie theater in the villages, there is the new walking trail by Lake Miona, many more golf courses which people seem to prefer rather than the pitch and putts from reading postings on TOTV, etc.

It seems that people are ignoring the vast differences in land available when comparing areas.

The area between 466 & 466A, east of Morse and west of Buena Vista is probably the widest tract of uninterrupted land in TV...

Now compare that to Chitty Chatty, Bradford, St Catherine, and points south, etc, etc, etc...

They are, by comparison, MUCH narrower tracts of land. Hence, less will fit in those areas.

Where it widened (by St Catherine,) the were able to build Southern Oaks. But it narrows again as you go south, due to the wetlands on the east and the turnpike to the west...

They have 5 Exec courses up by Fenney and Marsh Bend. It's a larger expanse of uninterrupted land.

The topography determines what can be built and where it can be built...

That is why you'll see all of the new Exec and Championship courses West of the turnpike. MORE LAND...
