Today a friend and I drove down to the PGA Q School Tournement at Orange County National in Winter Garden. Orange County National is an easy 50 minute drive from the South side of The Villages and is a top 100 course in the country. There is no cost to watch the future PGA players play.

You can watch this tournement on the Golf Channel tomarrow afternoon. The finals are on Monday with the top 25 players earning their PGA card for 2011. So you can see 25 guys who will be playing the PGA tour in 2011.

Below are links to some articles about what is going on at Orange County National. The course is fantastic and not crowded at all today many times we were the only ones on the hole that we were on. We parked right beside the club house and walked right in.

If you want to see a great course and great players this is well worth the 50 minute drive to Winter Garden.

One of my favorite venues to watch. I cannot fathom the pressure extended over six rounds. This year is even more fun for me as someone I know (Jim Renner) is in the fray. He is currently -9 and on the bubble. The first time I met Jim he was 15 years old. At 17 years old, Jim and I were paired in the final group on the fourth day of the Attleboro Area City Open. At 17, you could see he was going to be a special player and he went on to win that day. I made him take a picture with me in front of the leader board in case he ever got famous. I see he is now 27 years old. Where did those 10 years go?!? :laugh:

Would be a thrill for me to see him make it through.

This is a huge local golf story for the Foxboro Country Club and surrounding area in Massachusetts. It may get overshadowed for a bit by some game that happened last night, but it really is something.... For folks from Massachusetts, here is an article from a local paper:

Being a member at Foxboro CC, I know Buck Renner (Jim's father). He is a big guy, soft spoken and a pretty good stick in his own right. He must be beaming with pride. I am really happy for him and the whole family,

Simply amazing..... :bowdown::clap2:

Congratulations to Jim Renner and the rest of the Q-School class of 2010.

This was a great outing and a life changing event for many players

Below is a link to the profiles of the players that will be on the PQA tour for 2011. It is interesting to see where these guys came from.
