There have been several threads about this in the past, you may want to do a search and look these over before you decide which replacement controller to get. Then you may want to ask if anyone can install that specific controller. In general, from what I recall the change out seems to be fairly simple, the connection to Wi-Fi and or other remote control may be more complicated.

You can buy the Hunter Pro-C, 4-zone model on Amazon for $92. If it is in the garage, you need the interior (not exterior) unit. If you buy the exact same model that you already have, it looks like you can replace it by removing 2 mounting screws and disconnecting a few wires. I would take a photo of the existing unit wiring before disconnecting the wires. If mine ever fails, I think I will attempt a DIY project.

It’s a walk in the park to replace yourself. If you would rather have a handyman do it ask your neighbors for a local guy that they approve of.

A Rachio is pretty easy to put in. Take pics of the old setup before removing the wires.
