Coming to Ocala

a new interchange coming to Interstate 75 in Marion County will provide the space for the state's next Buc-ee’s store.

The interchange, which is funded by a $4 million transportation grant, will be constructed at I-75 and Northwest 49th Street.

I Posted the thread in January that Buccee’s was coming to Ocala. Yesterday Governor stated he will be moving quickly on getting them open.

Nothing like supporting local biz. Not. Feel bad for their competitors (at least in the short run). Interchange will help.

Site is 30 minutes away, for us the only business it will hurt locally is WaWa’s, it’s our go to on our way up to Gainesville.

Once Buccee’s opens, we will stop on our return, from Gainesville after lunch, TJ’s and Whole Food. Stock up on snacks, BBQ and super large lattes. Rarely buy gas at either place, just use WaWa’s and Buccee’s for my bad habits for fancy coffee drinks.

Their competition will be Pilot, Loves, plus nowhere do you get over 50 pumps and the cleanest bathrooms

Disney?

I always have mixed feelings on such things. People love WaWa, they love Buckees, Walmart, and Disney. The local filling station is long gone, small grocers ruined, small local attractions (parks) struggle, people actually decide in our capitalist system... the alternative, government gives us our choice, ONE "choice".... our system is a blessing and a curse for some ! ?

Wow...an expedited new interchange. Perhaps when they have completed that project, they can move down to 441 Hwy/Rolling Acres and complete that one.

Once it’s built, this will be our first stop on our trips to metro Atlanta to visit family. Then a stop at the Buceee’s in Fort Valley, Ga. to top it off. On the way hime, we then reverse stops. We love Buccee’s for the gas prices but they can be extremely crowded around holidays. That might deter some folks from stopping and cause them to use the smaller ones such as Love’s and Wa-Wa. When stopping at the one in Fort Valley on Palm Sunday afternoon, the line for the ladies’ restroom stretched back to the check-outs. Thankfully, it moved quickly due to the large restroom areas. I’m glad trucks aren’t allowed, but the large RVs and large campers being pulled by pick-ups are about as bad as large trucks.

Right after they finish 27/441 construction. Did notice they were doing some work on it last weekend so there is some hope.

Capitalism Works! We had a small business. WE LOVE OUR AMERICAN CAPITALISM SOCIETY.

ALTHO- We weren't crybabies! We had True Grit! Here's our story...

We had a small flower shop in North Country.

Back in the 80's, large chain grocery stores began selling bouquets, cutting into our business. Most flower shops called foul.

We studied it and knew they weren't going to cease. We saw the writing on the wall.

We understood that we needed to grow bigger and we began to cut our prices. We were not greedy, we still did fine and most importantly, we KNEW our target market. We adjusted our business plan. We expanded our target market. We fought fire with fire by lowering our prices and semarketing corporate offices for their floral needs.

Next, Lowes and Home Depot cut into our Potted plants sales at Christmas and Easter. We targeted churches and set them up. Word if mouth spread. Customer Service was our motto.

We grew bigger, we bought new locations close to the big box hardware garden ctrs., that sold dried-out flats, plants and trees . We cut into their Christmas Tree sales by hiring tractor trailers to pick up the best Christmas Trees down in N.C. and bring them up to PA.
We did the same with Pumpkins, and many other goods.

The hardware garden ctrs. were selling bagged goods. Mulch, topsoil and stone.

We imitated them and cut the prices and still smiled all the way to the bank depository!

We then invested in our own tractor trailers to buy wholesale direct and opened a bulk Mulch, Soil, Stone, Shrub and "Bagged and Burlapped tree" Garden Ctr.
We added mushroom compost, picked up directly from the mushroom mines.

We had beautiful, quality products in Fall and Spring planting seasons AND hired people ( and ) taught then how to Water the plant material, not to allow it to go bone dry.

We studied our competition. We displayed our goods in a beautiful setting and most IMPORTANT to our success, we employed FAST, COMPETENT AND SMART cashiers, who knew all the products or how to expediently defer to us who did.

Our objective was to move all product out before it perished. Two for...and three for sales made us famous and wealthy.

We loved our customers and they loved us.

No one put us under!

We CHOSE NOT
to have a "victim" type of mentality.

We Love Winners, Survivors and American Values like "work ethics."

Capitalism made us pay attention, work hard, but smart and not lose sight of how to GROW.

We were young and had no "backers", no rich parents, just the culture of American ingenuity.

Never say CAPITALISM is bad because you'd be buying your chickens from a wet market otherwise. OÍ

Love America! We Retired, still living the American Dream in our early 60's, and didn't BLAME ANYONE for challenging us.
We weren't asleep at the switch, we used our brains and brawn that God gave us.
Not a snowflake or a victim. Capitalism is NOT Evil.

Excellent food at competitive prices. Best bbq brisket sandwiches. Awesome baked goods. Very very clean restrooms.

The friendliest employees you will ever see. Huge selections of products.

Over 100 gasoline pumps.

Can go on and on but think you should get the point.

That is why I said short term. Novelty of this HUGE gas station will hurt the surrounding similar businesses for months. Hard to compete with these mega gas stations.

Why should anyone pay more for gas than they have to? It's a commodity product. If you like paying more please do. No one stopping you.

Buccee’s is the only station I will stop at 3am alone, and feel safe, in their parking lot. Won’t hurt Loves, or Pilot’s business, small station rarely open 24/7

I absolutely love Buc’ees. I regularly visit two of them in Texas located in New Braunfels and in Madisonville. Super large locations with spotless restrooms and pretty decent food items. Always a great selection of specialty jerky and some other not so common food items. Prices are fair. While I always like to support Mom and Pop retailers, there is a lot to be said for convenience and great customer service albeit from a large corporate chain.
