For those who have experienced a gator banging their head on your door in TV. Not an article or a utube, or google, but have actually had a gator show up at your lanai, or doors.
Do you have a pet, such as a dog, that draws the gator to you? Or are gators, just on their way to the next pond and get tired or lost and stop at a house?

I'll ask one the next time one stops by on their way to the next pond. Although, they never seem to be prone to conversation. :icon_wink:

At our other homes we were very close to ponds, had bobcats, bear, coyotes. Never a gator walk past our house. Our cameras always picked up the activity.
We are not close to any water, yet 1am a gator was butting his snout on neighbors door. Cameras alerted, banging was loud enough to wake them. Yes animal control will come out at 1am, or you can just wait for gator to find another door to knock on.
I know there was a small gator in Brownwood at the back of stores hiding in the bushes, guessing it traveled from the pond, near the bridge, or pond near the apartments.
I just don’t get the butting on the door. In the past there have been a couple of times in TV that a gator came knocking. (search engine doesn’t bring posts up). Just wondering if they had a pet, or gator just was randomly wandering.

The only thing I found was a brief note in this article:
Why are so many alligators ‘knocking''' on our doors? – WFTV (https://www.wftv.com/news/trending-now/why-are-so-many-alligators-knocking-on-our-doors/258587574/)

I had been outside and called to my neighbor, Larry, who was putting out the trash.
"Hey Larry, there's a large gator banging on your front door"
Larry said "That's no gator, that's my mother-in-law"

No pets. I guess the big guy was on his way to another nearby pond and got lost. It was mating season last year before dawn.

Delicious! Make great wearable items. (Boots, belts, bikinis, gloves, hats, etc. Even creepy condoms for April fools day, but any day is good to fool April, eh.

Why not? Gators eat dogs, why not let dogs eat gators.

We learned long ago that south's newcomers don't realize that gators are attracted to Food. (!)
Your pet food should never be set out on screened porch's and open air lanai's.
It attracts gators.

This one was between ponds. Stayed 4 hours then moved on.

Do they travel through the sewer system? A lot of wildlife use sewers to get around.

How unfortunate for you. Don't give up hope. Someday you could be the lucky one with a great tale to tell.

The gator by Brownwood ended up relaxing for several days in the pond behind the Lifestyle Preview homes a couple weeks ago!

No here they waddle over the grass, roads etc, above ground. They are not shy.

Or rats!
Tasty snacks for "Phydoux" (pronounced "Fido").
Pelts make nice gloves
And for those pill takers, the jaws make nifty pill cutters.

It's mating season so don't dress provocatively and don't put green loofas on your golf carts.

Probably lost on it’s way to the pond so it stopped to ask for directions, obviously a female!

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission hotline gets around 100-150 phone calls a day about gators.

Gators need to be hunted until those phone calls go under 50.

I consider any Gator longer than 4 feet as being detrimental to Human Health. They should be turned into human food and leather footwear and gloves.
