It appears that stamps are going up again. The price went up in January from $.60 to $.63 and may go up to $.66 in July.
The price changes have been approved by USPS board of governors but still have to be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission.
If approved, stamp prices will have risen 32% since early 2019 when they rose from 50 cents to 55 cents.

Why don't they raise the price of all postage high enough to cover their costs?

So if i spend about $60 all year on stamps and packages at the USPS, its $6 more a year for me. . . and that's being a high year. .
decimal dust in my annual spending plans. .

I think the last time we bought Forever stamps over a year ago still have maybe half left. All bills are paid online. Gift cards are purchased on Amazon they deliver thru Prime.

I remember when postage for a letter was three cents and a penny for a postcard. So it soon will cost 22 times as much, at 66 cents, to mail a letter? Just wow!

Why don't they raise the price of all postage high enough to cover their costs?because it’s supposed to be revenue neutral , which means it can’t make a profit , it also is mandated to universal delivery which means that they are mandated to deliver to everyone including very rural areas where the other services won’t , it also the only governmental institution that is required to fund all financial obligations to employees right from the start , they also are required to keep delivering 6 days a week , people’s beef shouldn’t be with post office but with congress who could help if they wished but don’t

You can get airfare London - New York return at off peak near to that price still if you keep checking offers.
Just imagine the cost of milk if it had risen at the same rate as property prices.

I still send birthday and holiday cards to my family, which includes 7siblings, their spouses, and my family. I could send them electronically, but it’s still nice to receive something in the mail that is not a bill (or junk mail). I don’t like the increased cost of stamps, but that will not change my routine.

Compare to:
Fedex - 3rd day delivery $11.10, next-morning (overnight) $41.20
UPS - ground $10.90, next day $37.35
DHS - $32.14 next-day only
I'd say USPS is still a bargain after all these years. Where else can you mail a document or written letter to anywhere in the US for less than a buck?

I have a friend in Hawaii. I send him a Christmas card and I always enjoy dropping that card in the mailbox! Really getting my money’s worth on that card!!

We used to bring all our overseas Christmas Cards from UK and post them from US. when we overwintered in TV.
Your postage compared to UK is really a bargain.

does this really matter? I don't know anyone that uses stamps any more than once a year or two. I have stacks of forever stamps the wife bought "just because" it's a non issue these days.

Stamp prices don’t surprise me one bit. Everything we do today is by computers & Cell Phones. Stamp prices will continue to go up, the postal service will keep making money no matter if stamp prices double remember our country is ran by a dictator. Something has to change otherwise things are going to keep getting worse. Just my opinion!!!
