Republicans are about to sell out the tea party, and when they do, the tea party will organize into its own party by this spring.
Republican leaders seem to be satisfied to "compromise" with the President by agreeing to more Unemployment Benefits WITHOUT PAYING FOR THEM.. in exchange for keeping the bush tax cuts for all.
THIS IS NOTHING DIFFERENT than they have been doing for the last 10 years.. buying votes.. increasing the deficit.
The tea party will not stand for this anymore.
Repubs should refuse the UE benefits unless they are paid for by a reduction in some specific budget such as education, social security, pork programs, or defense. If they do not, the debt will continue to grow until it destroys our nation.

My only comment on the thrust of this post is to say that the Tea Party if they form a party will need to come up with PLANS !

My single biggest disappointment with that movement is the lack of any substantive ideas. It is okay to criticize spending and they have done a marvelous job in making the citizens aware of many things, but there has to be a plan....a real living idea for fixing the problems.

We shall see what happens

If we balance the budget by next year that is approximately a 35% reduction in the federal budget. How many years will that actually take to get to a balanced budget?
After the budget is balanced if we then can save $100 billion dollars per year, that is 10 years to save a trillion, and 14 times that to get out of debt..
so... it will ONLY take 140 years to get out debt..
My PLAN is move to Bolivia ... Sundance.

Becoming a *real* 3rd party would be A Good Thing. Then they can promote their own platform and not be accused of hijacking any other party or riding anyone else's coat-tails.

None of this is going to happen. The Tea Party is a movement, not a party. The Tea Party's goal is to bring the Republican Party back to Ronald Reagan conservatism. This is a good thing and has already had a measure of success.

The "constitutional struggle" will never be over. The Tea Party has to recognize the Republican representative who is straying from constitutional conservatism, identify him and get him "on message" or defeat him in the next primary as was accomplished this past primary season with much success.

This approach needs much more time before the idea of splintering off and forming a new party is considered. A third party puts the liberal radicals in position of power for an intolerably long time as the Republican Party and the third party split voting.

I agree with everything you said.. but.. the core problem is that the Republican leaders are not true conservatives. They are already negotiating a deal with the democrats that will go against what the tea party stands for.
They are saying they will pay for an unemployment benefits extension with "stimulus" money and therefore it will be PAID FOR. That is the same crap they have been pulling for years. The stimulus money is unspent borrowed money and should be paid back immediately. To be paid for the UE benefits extension must come from current spending.. and this is the first test that the Republicans will fail. They will vote for an extension of the debt limit with no reductions in gov spending. They are frauds.
As I started this thread, it will take 140 years to pay off the debt AFTER THE budget is balanced. WHEN will it get balanced?
Never when the Repubs want to spend ridiculous amounts on defense and all of their goodies.
Every American owes $45,000 towards the 14 trillion dollar debt. That is 90k for me and my wife combined, and if you count my kids thats 180k. Since only half of americans pay taxes that means I will have to pay 360k to pay off the debt. WHEN will Americans wake up. This is serious stuff, it is not going away, and the so called experts who say the debt is not a problem are full of it. Now we are spending over 200 billion a year just to pay the interest on the national debt. When interests rates go back to 8 to 10%, and THEY WILL.. the gov will not be able to pay the interest on the debt so they will have to monetize it. That will cause our creditors to adopt their own international currency, and our savings and our nation will be gone.
Gee......... I wonder of the Progressives knew that all along.
STOP the debt now to save the nation. It is as simple as that.

Again, can anyone enlighten me on HOW they will balance the budget, etc. ?

I am certainly and for sure not against this movement or potential party, but there has to be more than saying "we have to do this"...you gotta have some ideas on HOW !

I want to hear what they will cut...where will they balance things ?

The income tax deal according to CNBC will blow a 1 TRILLION DOLLAR hole in the deficit over only 2 years.
How can any conservative agree to this insanity.
All kinds of new and continued give aways for everyone.. but WHO is going to pay that 1 trillion. .. that is over $3000 for every person in america.. 6000 for me and my wife.
How dare they do that to us.
Tea Party.. time to organize and get rid of the Republicans once and for all. We knew we could not trust them to reduce the deficit.. instead the negotiate a 1 trillion dollar additional deficit with President Obama. We cannot trust Republicans to be fiscally conservative. They have never been and never will be.

I have heard economists say that BOTH the extension AND the tax cuts will create jobs !

I am not smart enough to understand the economics but hoping they are right.

Can you share exactly HOW you will reduce the benefits ?

Exactly what will you cut and how will you increase the income ?

It does NOT happen just because you say it !

If that is true then.. we should reduce all taxes to zero and give borrowed money to everyone and not just the unemployed. Can you believe how many jobs that would create?I believe none.

This country is doomed if we do not replace this congress and president with someone who has actually worked for a living and paid their own bills.
Amen
