Could say the car at top entered before completely clear to left.
But pretty good for TV.

Roundabouts are so simple to navigate but a large % of the drivers in TV can’t figure them out. Hope they have good insurance because Morgan and Morgan will get the innocent a big settlement

Try taking the same in TV. May look a little more eclectic.

maybe there is a trick to figure out, actually there are two, which is needed for safe entrance and safe exits from the graphic in post #7. .
The graphic is designed for the simple concept when all goes correctly, but life rarely goes correctly all the them, especially with the curse of the double a's, age and alcohol

Around a round about if you don't want a crash look at the driver of the cars near you and see them looking at you to be sure of what they are doing. I usually gesture I'm going or wait for them

I thought roundabouts were perilous until they did THIS in Fishers, IN 😳😁

Actually not. The white pickup/SUV is entering the round-about while the small blue car still has the right-of-way to exit. A potential accident right there.

The new Villages High School being built recently posted a teaching vacancy for professor of roundabouts. It’s part of the driver, Ed curriculum for students and also will be used in conjunction with local police to train bad driving adults.

The white truck in right lane at the 1:00 position is in violation because it is overtaking the blue vehicle in the left lane, which has the right-of-way to turn right from that lane to continue straight onto the road at the 12:00 position. Never overtake or pass within the roundabout!!!

They may have both entered from the road in the upper right. No right of way conflict in that case.

Nope. The white pick-up (at the top of the roundabout) has the right of way to be in HIS lane. The small blue car to is left only has the right of way in HIS lane. If the small blue car wanted to make that right turn exit (actually to the left, looking at the picture), he had to make sure he could safely do so, since both cars have the right of way to go straight thru the roundabout. The small blue car could have entered the roundabout along side of the pickup...

Maybe the white truck entered the roundabout next to the blue car. Unfortunately, from a still shot, you have no idea where the blue car was coming from, nor where it was going...

We had a discussion about the roundabout about a week ago. I wish I had that photo with me. I made a couple copies of that photo. That photo explains it better than I could. I plan on showing the ladies that photo when we meet again. Thank You

You can't judge from a still photo. Perhaps the small blue car entered the circle from the same direction as the white SUV which means it can't exit to the right in front of the SUV.

Correct, unless the blue car is drifting around the circle. :jester:

Correct, unless the blue car is drifting around the circle. :jester:
Which means that when you enter the circle and need to go past the first exit in the circle, you WAIT until BOTH lanes are clear to enter so that you don't interfere with the inner lane exiting and use your left blinker
And if you are in the circle in the left lane and want to exit, you go F* slow, use your right blinker and be sure that the right lane is clear before turning . .
Regardless of who has the right of way, the scenario is much more preferable to not have an accident and lose the car and then have carfax smear your perfect driving record. .
note: i did drift once in a NE rotary and it scared the sh!t out of me. . .

Personally, I think that all roundabout incoming roads should merge into one lane before the roundabout. Before someone says that it would defeat the idea of getting a lot of traffic through quickly - I would say that if that is the objective (higher traffic) then 2 lanes and a conventional red light intersection need to be used. Roundabouts are a cheap way of moving traffic in a rural LOW-DENSITY environment.
.....It is NO LONGER WORKING in high-density VillageLand.
.......I never saw any double-lane roundabouts (only single-lane) in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

‘Splain us this:
We’re stopped yielding to in-circle traffic, let’s say we’re at 6 o’clock.
A steady train of tailgating, higher-than-speed-limit vehicles are streaming in at 9 o’clock.
We got there ‘several vehicles’ ahead of everyone but number one in that train.
What’s right or wrong?

There are plenty in England, but the problem in TV is that they are too small in diameter. If they made them oblong, with longer sides where the traffic is coming in/out of the villages, there will be more distance to make transitions easier between lanes prior to the exit. .

Don't make transitions in a roundabout, exit in the same lane you entered.

The problem is not with the right lane exiting at first or second exit 1 or 2as they can/should stay in the right lane.
Problems occur when left (center) lane wants to exit. Regardless of which exit they want to use, they have no choice but to cross the right lane when exiting. Changing lanes at any time incurs extra risk. Especially in a traffic circle.

Many roundabouts in UK are nothing more then a painted white circle about 8' diameter with a sign. No island at all.
The problem is not size, but learning the correct procedure and sticking to it.
In TV getting everyone to sing off the same song sheet is the problem.

As to your comment about moving traffic, the actual experts disagree...

"Roundabouts improve traffic flow and are better for the environment. Research shows that traffic flow improves after traditional intersections are converted to roundabouts."

Imagine the fun that would create on Morse.
Six mini roundabouts, on one large roundabout, traffic can move either left or right.
Works well.

Notice that these roundabouts are MUCH larger than the ones in TV to handle greater traffic and the one around the Arc de Triomphe is considered the “the suicide run” by international drivers.
However, in defense of roundabouts, they are much safer in most accidents and they do work in moving traffic along. It is true that new places are adopting them they are just designed to consider future traffic flows as well.
