I got a letter yesterday from my Medicare Advantage plan regarding important updates to my plan. Accompanying the letter was another page offering the free service of translating the letter into the following languages:

Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Chinese Cantonese, Tagalog, French, Vietnamese, German, Korean, Russian, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese, French Creole, Polish and Japanese.

Talk about full service! The only language they left out was Pig Latin!

Better to offer the free translation than to send 16 copies of the letter.

seems that could have just been an initial remark on the first page -
save paper without discriminating against non-English speakers.

"what ignorance" - another snarky remark, quite a few on this board

Another tree bites the dust. What annoys me more is when each page of an owner manual has translations on EACH page instead of separate sections…..and then you need to go on line to print all 1,000 pages out on your own paper and depleting your own ink.

Most countries have an official language; USA does not. Having an official language would solve this issue.

That policy of offering translation services is many years old! You should be more concerned about the DMV giving a person the option of taking their written Drivers License test in Spanish !

Aren't people from countries that speak some of those languages considered white? Not everything is about race.
