We have noticed over a period of time the countertops on our island where we read the paper in the morning has started to discolored. I’m thinking it is from the ink in the newspaper. Is there a way to safely clean this white countertop? Thanks

Weiman Products is a trusted name.
There are also kits that can cost over $100 for major issues.

Many newspapers have gone to organic inks, so I would look into cleaners for this type of material and the type of counter top that you have.

What are your countertops made of? Quartz? Granite? Something else? Do you know the manufacturer or installer? If so, call them.

I clean hard to remove spots on my white quartz with a nylon scrubby and dawn soap. I also use an extra large dish drying mat to lay my newspaper on to eliminate ink transfer. When done I fold the cloth mat and put it away until next time....and it washes easily. Hope this helps.

Try to clean with warm water and vinegar. A 50/50 blend

If it is ink, google suggests rubbing alcohol on a cloth, or magic eraser. Whatever you experiment with, I'd start on a small area to test it out. Good luck.

But that would mean one should not only read the thread topic, and :girlneener:all of the posts

Mild soap and water should clean it up.

Barkeeper’s friend for quartz - the liquid form is easy to use, with a scrubbing sponge. In the cleaning products aisle at your local grocery, near the Comet cleanser.

Read the online news source once it's clean, much more entertaining.

Magic erasers work on just about any surface we use them on especially counter tops.

Thieves is a product from young living( essential oils) that works great on stone granite quartz and very safe. On occasion if there is a stubborn stain use windex, but don’t make a habit of it.

Yes they all use SOY ink now.
Bleach.

If the dirt is organic, laundry detergent often works well.

Try Bonami, it's a scratch free cleanser. I use it on everything. Buy any store that sells cleansers.
