American Retirement Crisis not planning ahead on costs of purchasing at 55 plus communities.
Despite many individuals' anticipation of retirement, millions of adults will never realize their post-work ambitions. An alarming majority of working adults in the United States fail to plan early enough, adequately enough, or with sufficient foresight to cover all potential retirement expenses, The villages is one example. contributing which can Resulting in a retirement crisis because cost is very high living there.
Retirement is an unstoppable train barreling down the tracks for many American employees. It will occur regardless of circumstances, but its arrival may be agonizing.

A lot cheaper than Long Island NY.

There is something for everyone in Florida retirement communities. There are mobile home communities what have units available for under $10,000, they may be old but many of them have been well cared for and on the other end there are plenty of million dollar plus communities scattered throughout the state. If you failed to prepare there is no one to blame except yourself but there is still a community down here somewhere that you can afford and enjoy.

Why does someone who doesn't live, who will never live here, keep posting here? Is retirement in NY that boring?

He's probably either a 15 year old kid, or a 30 something loser living on mommy's couch in her basement.

Right on, thank you ! I guess this is just what you get unless one just wipes all "social" media out of their life, the good and the "bad" ....LOL ! I read various posts, like the one you mentioned on the topic of 55+ retirement/life style communities and affordability (which is just so qualitative anyway as another poster pointed out !), and someone will post a LOT cheaper than Chicago, L.A. or NYC ! It's like a group of people are discussing the price of meat, where to get the best meat for the lowest price, and so on, then one member of the discussion says : I don't eat meat, I would NEVER eat meat, that's not really wise, I've been a vegetarian all my life and I have been healthier than.....blah, blah, blah.... ! As Bob Seger once sang.... "it's a mystery"...LOL !

Definitely a possibility, but as like most of us, I draw on my own experiences observing the behaviors of others. Case in point, mature retired adults, very good friends of ours. Kind, people, fun to be with, but.... they seem compelled to always mention some negative aspect of TV's ( "it's so pretty there, but we could never live in a place that tells us exactly where we can and can't plant a simple thing like a flower"), or they say positive things about their location ("it must be very hard to be so far from your grand children, we are so thankful we get to see our everyday of our lives"), and similar remarks, not overt, but little "justifications" of why they do not want to retire to a place like The V's. The "rest of the story" for many is, they have serious obligations of some kind that make staying in the same local the best choice for them. For others, I suspect it's a financial decision, but why do people feel the need to "run down" the choices of others ? That works BOTH ways, why do some in other 55+ communities feel a need to nearly "rub the noses of others" in what they are missing ? And why, do those who choose to "stay put" in retirement feel a need to "justify" their decision ? Once heard a person (guest of our neighbor's and we all went out to dinner together at one of the C.C.'s) say, "this is really lovely, but could never live in a state with all the BUGS you have here !".... I was so relieved that no one jumped in and tried to correct that perception, or stated to defend or justify anything. Human nature to feel a need to degenerate the decisions of others ? Sure. But why ?

It is NOT very expensive to live here. You have never been here and have no intention of moving here. Your drivel is tiresome.

Heck, these days the OP could be an AI bot generating topics for TOTV that prevoke conversations, to stoke the numbers, to increase the advertising, that boosts the final $$ count for TOTV.
Could be a paid employee or relative in a basement somewhere... not in FL lol.

I see you’ve edited your post at least once. It didn’t work. It’s still just incoherent mumbling as always.

TOTALLY AGREE ! Have been trying to convey that to relative who has very limited income and nothing in savings to speak of, have sent pictures of beautiful little places, with a pool, a 9 hole golf course, and manufactured homes in her price range.

I do not think there is a place in the whole country where you can live as well and as cheap as Florida , like you were saying there are many well maintained mobile adult parks all over Florida where people look after each other

i respect all opinions, but anyone who thinks it's too costly to live here has not tried to start a life in the northern HIGH tax states. i remember @ 1 point of having to count pocket change for a gallon of milk. that's when i knew something had to be done & went gung-ho with plans to get here.
