My husband and I have searched this form for plantation shutter recommendations and the companies that install them. There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot on here regarding them. We’d appreciate any recommendations or ideas. Thank you.

We just had shutters installed Monday by Florida Blind Company. Absolutely 100% pleased with the results! The installer was Joe Fetters and his wife Christine who did a fabulous job of installing and cleaning up. Very nice couple and very nice product, we’re so glad we called Joe! 407-504-1102

If you're handy, you order them online and put them up yourself.

48 hour blinds did mine and several neighbors. Their shutters are made locally - not from China - which is a plus for me.

We’ve had Joyce’s Blinds install plantation shutters in our houses for the last 20 years. It’s been the same person who comes to inspect the job, and measure throughout that time. The work has always been excellent. I highly recommend them. Derek. (352) 347-9099,

I ordered mine (all windows) and installed them myself. I used Blinds.com they also offer installation. Measuring is the most important part. They wanted windows measured within 1/32 of an inch. If you have Blinds.com install them they will send someone to measure and then when the shutters arrive will come and install (my neighbor did this) Very well built I am very happy with them. You can go on their site and price them and figure out what options you want. Faux Wood Shutters | Custom Shutters | Blinds.com (https://www.blinds.com/c/faux-wood-shutters/61) At the time I ordered they also offered interest free financing.

Joy's Blinds, not Joyce. I've used them twice, on 2 different houses.

We had gorgeous plantation shutters installed by Village Blind & Shutter. Their store is at 4127 CR 106 in Oxford. Phone (352) 330-4000. It’s been a few years, but ask for Holly. She was quite helpful. The installation was beautiful.

We had a very good experience with Blinds 4 Less. Nestor Matos is one of the owners and helpful with design & install. (352)-753-5003, customerservice@blinds4lessfl.com,109 West Lakeview Street, Lady Lake FL, 32159

Go to the Faux Wood Shutters | Custom Shutters | Blinds.com (https://www.blinds.com/c/faux-wood-shutters/61) . Get rough measurements for your largest window. Plug them in to the page and find out. I did 9 windows of varying sizes for about $2600 self install. It took about 8 hours and I worked alone and had no experience with shutters.

All plantation shutters look the same to me. What is it that makes yours gorgeous? Just curious.

Be certain that you really want them. We moved into a house that has them…and we wish it didn’t. They block light, and you really can’t get as much fresh air as we’d like when windows are open. We would rather have had blinds we could open half way instead.

We've used Shade Brothers (formerly Dress Up Your Windows) off of Route 44 towards Leesburg for several years.
Wonderful work and products. Shade Brothers | Automated Smart Shades | Motorized Window Screens (https://shadebrothers.com/)
Several projects since moving into our current home.
Motorized lanai screens (3)
Motorized garage screen
Plantation shutters (4 rooms)
and most recently, motorized shades across 2 sets of sliding doors.
All look and work beautifully. Family business. Highly recommend. Check out their showroom.

All plantation shutters look the same to me. What is it that makes yours gorgeous? Just curious.

We had Blinds plus Shutters do the entire house many years ago. One feature that we thought made them look better was the hidden tilt bar at the back. Another was the casing that framed the windows. A third feature was the "radiating" arch treatment on the large front window. They have held up very well.

Question: Have you had them previously ? I often wonder why responders so often ignore a person's legitimate question only to give their unasked for opinion of what another should do. But I am going to take the chance of being one of those obnoxious people. P. S. are extremely popular, so my opinion is definite a minority, but we had every window in a previous home done, don't remember but added 4-5K ! I loved the look, kind of island tropical. However, the cleaning (even with a vac tool made for the purpose) took hours, ours could not be completely removed to clean (like a traditional bind), they definitely had limitations as to the degree of light that was able to enter, made cleaning the windows much more difficult (our swung out into the room), and fresh air flow was affected when not in AC months. After a few years, I was so dismayed over the dirt and dust that could not be cleaned out even with constant vacuuming; too many small areas that eventually looked slightly grey, never looked sparkling clean like when installed, so I made the difficult decision to have all of them taken out. So, definitely will not refute the many who will respond how much they love them. I know many do ! If you've had them previously, then you know you want them, if not, just make sure first because they are a large investment.

I have had shutters for years. I have smaller slats in one home than the other but definitely like the larger slats better. I feel they give more light. But if you need even more light than that open the shutters door. They are so easy to clean. Just use a microfiber cloth and dust. So much easier than washing and rehanging curtains.

Vinnie ---- I'm glad you recommended Steve Rydell. He has done all of our windows along with 5 or 6 other homes on our street. He did a wonderful job for us. The big advantage with Steve is he's a one-man operation (sales and installation). This allows his overhead to be significantly reduced price. He deals with all of the major brands. We had a number of sales folks come out and give us estimates. Steve beat them by several hundred dollars. It has been 4 years since our last install, and all the shutters are working fine. My only complaint is he doesn't come back to dust the shutters (just kidding).

You right I had plantation shutters and wouldn't get them again. You lose about a third of the light in the room. If you get them it is a good idea to have them split upper and lower you have more control especially if you have vertical windows

Interesting. Limiting light is a plus for us. When we want it darker, they're great. When we want more light, just tilt them open and we have plenty of light! And a simple occasional wipe down with a Swiffer deals with any dust issues...

Our's have the slats, split top and bottom. So you can close the bottom half for privacy, and leave the top half open for added light...
