I get Talk of the Villages daily to my email. When I open it, at the top, there is a link to different clubs. I scrolled through to see what I might be interested in and one seemed like it had not been updated since 2014. Do the rec centers have a list of the current active clubs?

The rec centers have the latest copy of the Recreation News, which has a list of around 800 clubs or so. The district web site has a PDF, updated twice a year (I think), that includes all clubs recognized by the recreation department. You can get to it by going to VCDD Rec News (https://districtgov.org/departments/Recreation/recevents.aspx) and then clicking under Quick Links the Resident Lifestyle Clubs & Contacts.

They also publish a copy in the Thursday edition of the Sun News.

One way to make sure a club is current and active is to start your own.

Instead of posting a vague question about an unnamed club that might or might not be updated since 2014, why not just call their contact phone number and ask them? All clubs have contact information. If the phone number is inactive, you'll know you need to a) call the rec center where the club supposedly meets, or b) don't try to join that club.

Go to districtgove.org to see a list of all clubs or check the Recreation News.

Yes, this is a problem! The Villages needs someone to make sure these club listings are all up to date or decertified until they are. Last week I went to one that is listed as meeting on Tuesday from 1-3 pm. I arrived at 12:20. Then I was told that it really meets at 10:30 to 12:30 and has since clubs began meeting again after the pandemic. No one bothered to update the information. It’s quite annoying. I know of others where the listed contact people are dead. How many people have tried to attend but found no one there?
There are other ads where what is described as the focus is no longer the focus. It’s okay if a focus changes, but if so, the ad should be changed. People, if you are in a club, go to the top of this page, click on Entertainment, scroll down to Clubs, then type in the name of your club. Is the ad accurate? If not, get it updated.

Clubs can manage their own posts. I just added our club (Science and Technology South) to ToTV a few weeks ago.

There’s always gotta be at least one critic in the crowd.

WOW! That's kind of a snarky reply but it is what it is. I believe the OP was making a note that the newspaper has a document that shows the date of 2014. That is correct. In the document it also lists dates and times where one could show up. There should be an assumption that the information in a paper is accurate to some level which is what the OP is saying is not necessarily true. Another poster verifies this when he went to the rec center and found out that this group does not even meet there anymore. Back to your replies… I see you have almost 6000 posts. You do know that you do not have to reply to every topic correct????:spoken:

OBB gave advice and information. If OP followed would have had the answer in 5 minutes vs. 2 days. Just sayin……….

We have moderators on TOTV. At present we have more than our fair share of fake policemen. I like OBB's posts.
