I am trying to find my house water meter. I know where my main meter is but everyone on my block seems to have a separate meter for the house but I can’t find mine. Maybe it’s been buried with dirt and mulch. Also azalea shrubs but is there a way of knowing where the meter would be? I would like to find it and have it dug up so it is visible. Thanks for any help.

Your "main meter" is generally your home meter. Generally, the "other" meter is your irrigation meter. There are USUALLY 2 meters in every box. Yours and your neighbor's. If you live in the "new" areas maybe it's different but for many/most/all of us south of 44 that's how it usually works. You just need to determine which is your house water and which is your irrigation. Maybe you have 1 meter for both if you are down south. Not familiar with that area.

It's on your front lawn, probably covered with grass. Poke around with something, it has a metal plate over it.

Just north of 44, I have a plastic cover on a plastic box on each of the property lines between me and my neighbor - one to the right and one to the left. One cover may be marked "potable" or "drinking" and the other is marked "irrigation." Inside each of the boxes are two meters, one for me and one for the neighbor on that side.

Look on your water bill and get the latest readings for both drinking water and irrigation water then look at the meters to determine which is yours, which is drinking, and which is irrigation.

A couple of things, first you should NOT use your email as your name this is an open forum and you are opening yourself to a lot of spam.

As for your water meter question, there are some differences depending on where you live in TV. For example the historic section tended to have one meter, and potable water was used for irrigation. The area typically North of 44 tends to have 2 meters, one on each side of the house, each box has 2 meters, yours and your neighbors, with one box being potable water and the other irrigation water. There may be other variations for the courtyard villas, and I have no idea of the arrangement for the new houses south of 44. You can ask your neighbors where theirs are, and then look in similar locations at your house. If you have a newer house, these will be shown on the plat (plot) plan for your property, the local building department should be able to supply this document.
Hope this helps.

Rather than asking here call the water company surely contact information is on the bill. Ours is in the lawn with a roughly 2ftx4 ft gray plastic cover on it. I once asked the meter reader person. They can read through that cover. It seems at times they do remove the cover or perhaps it is the lawn mowing people. Once someone removes the cover it is difficult to PROPERLY put it back due to grass. Someone could trip. A call to the water company and they will promptly PROPERLY put it back. That seems to be a problem with too many of the workers with cable etc.

Walk around the neighborhood and see if you can find a neighbor's water meter box. Your's will probably be located the same distance from the street and the side property line. Also, when you find it and remove the cover, be careful of critters, like snakes.

When I bought in 2021, I asked our sales agent for a set of plans for the house which she provided in .pdf format; I presume you can do the same. One page in that set of plans includes general locations for the water meters (see attached).

Welcome to TOTV. Where do you live ? Different areas have different setups. Doubt if you have more than one potable water meter, though.

The water meter for your potable water will have a solid black lid. Your irrigation meter box will have a black lid with a pink round sensor

It's on the property line between yours and your neighbors houses. It's about 25 to 35 feet from the road. It is a grey rectangular box about 15 inches wide by 24 inches long and has two black rubber circles on it. One is for your home and one for your neighbors. They are the antennas for the electronic meter reader. Find it clear the grass from around it and tell your lawn person you expect them to keep it cleared off. Your irrigation meter is on the other property line between yours and your other neighbors house. This should be recognizable by being purple or having purple pipes if you have reclaimed water for irrigation

It depends where you live. In a courtyard villa, the property line is in the driveway.
