Renting with a Dog and Cat?

We recently returned from a Lifestyle visit and we want to get back as soon as possible.

I will sell my house then have to rent for a month or two with a Dog and Cat.

8 Year old Chocolate Lab and 12 year old indoor cat.

My house will sell the first day I put it on the market, that's the way it is where I am so I have to be ready to move.

Any Idea how hard it will be to find a short term rental that allows pets?

I have been looking for places in the "Rent from a Villager" Sites and while some are pet friendly they seem to have restrictions.

I was a Land lord a while back in and owner occupied Duplex so I know how hesitant people are to rent to pet owners.

Any body have any ideas?

If you go to The Villages Home rental site, they list which rental homes are "pet friendly"...

There are several pet boarding businesses near TV. I'm sure you could find a couple of vacancies there, and on the positive side with you being in TV you could (probably) visit them as often as you wanted until such time as you found a house. The downside is that most of them do not have positive reviews, though looking at things objectively the pets around here get treatment that more resembles that of spoiled two-year-old grandchildren than critters (hence the catch-all name "fur baby") and any treatment at one of these facilities that a treasured fur baby gets, unless it is the equal of what is being received at home, will probably get less than a five-star rating.

Another option: board them out where you live now until you can buy a house and move them here. No fun flying them here (believe me, I know) but it would probably be better than a pet boarding facility down here.

Best option, IMO? find a pet-friendly short-term rental here. Probably cost more but your pets will be happier.
