Would appreciate near/around TV —- a good store for sunglasses. We got ours at Market of Marion before but they closed last year

Looking for moderate priced ones, not really cheap ones. Good selection, etc etc

Would appreciate feedback. TIA.

Sunglasses are the prototypical Veblen goods.

Most all sunglasses cost less than $10-$15 to make, including Sun Dog, Oakley, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and most any other brand you can think of. Typical "mark-up" is over 1000%.

Do yourself a favor and shop for sunglasses on Amazon, don't pay more than $50 and return them if you don't like them. One brand you may want to consider on Amazon, is Tifosi. If you go to the Tifosi site, you can see exactly what the sunglasses will look like, on your head & face.

It's been a year since I was last at M of M. There were two sunglasses stands there then...have they both been closed down?

Walmart now carries all brand-name frames. Not that cheap junk they carried at one time.

I was there in February. Multiple sunglass stands were open...

Maybe they meant when the Markets closed after the fire a while back?

I saw a 60 min bit at the site overseas where almost all are made the same way just slap different logos on them. BTW ran into a guy that wholesaled ice cream in Iowa he told me Blue Bunny makes almost all ice cream in their plants just different recipes and packaging

Optic Nerve Sunglasses | Polarized Sunglasses | Ski Goggles - Optic Nerve Eyewear (https://www.opticnerve.com/)

They are a Colorado company (where we get much more sun than Florida, just sayin')

They do a lot for the kids in our community. Great company!

They have 1/2 off sales a couple times a year. Keep an eye out and stock up!

I got my Oakley's at Kohl's on 441 near Rolling Acres. They didn't have a lot of choice (maybe 25 various pairs), but I found very nice ones for a pretty good price.

EyeSite Optical at Magnolia Plaza (located in front of Publix in the same small strip mall as a veterinary clinic and a coffee shop) has a great selection of moderate priced sunglasses, not really cheap ones. Magnolia Plaza is next to the Everglades Rec Center.

I got a pair of sunglasses from Leupold. They are ballistic (shooting glasses). Able to withstand a serious impact without breaking, UV protectant and polarized. They're not "cheap", so I waited till they were on sale (half price). Can be bought on-line or at Shooter's World. You only get one set of eyes in this life, so it's worth protecting them. Shop smart and buy smart.

i get my BluBlocker Viper's off amazon

I got the clip-ons. Been wearing BluBlockers since the 1980s.

“Alright now, I’m real fast,
Let me tell you what I think and this shall come to pass,
My name is ‘Geek’ I put ‘em on as a shocker,
Man, I love… these Blu Blockers,
Everything is clear, they block out the sun,
Oh yeah, I gotta get me some,
Everything is groovy now no bull in my speech,
This is what I do up and down Venice Beach,
My name is ‘Geek’ I’m more than a hip-hopper,
and I’ll be chic in my BluBlockers,
Yeah, know what I mean,
Everything is groovy, do you know what I mean?
I float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,
Yep, these blockers are OK with me,
Yeah, see? It’s a fact,
My blockers, yeah, they go with my hat,
What more can I say, ahh, they are so nice,
These are the words that I love to spice,
Everything is great, now I must speak,
Blu Blockers, yeah, are for Dr. Geek,
So there ya have it folks, out there in TV land,
Get ya some glasses, that are sweep’n the land,
Remember what I said, now I’m a hip-hopper,
Yeah, go get ya some Blu Blockers, uh!
Nahh, yep it’s sweet,
I’ll see ya later, I gotta make some money on the beach”

-Dr. Geek, aka Wilbur Johnson, a hip-hop rapper of Venice Beach, CA who passed away in 2014

OP here. First thanks to all for the great input. I decided to go with Amazon. They had a very good selection for what my preference was. Brown lenses, brown or tortoise shell like wraparounds. So ordered two types, one for $16 and other at $14. Free shipping and easy returns. We live about 35 min from Marion Market. Was surprised to hear Sunglasses Alley is back. We were there the week they had the close out sale. Apparently the owner died and the family just wanted out. I checked out all your other suggestions. Thx again folks!

If you are are looking to shop local there is a new eyewear place that opened in Spanish Springs that has a good selection and the husband and wife owners seems to be worth doing business with.

EyeSite is in a few of the plazas in TV and has sunglasses at all price ranges. The cheapest ones that I looked at seemed to be pretty good and were better priced than you would expect from a small place.
