I just stepped outside and smelled smoke.

It may be from the Canadian fires. Is it all over the Villages?

On Long Island it appears to be cloudy and everything has a yellow haze. You can smell smoke form the Canadian fires.

Furtherest south is North Carolina, I heard. Smoke here is probably from the burning of brush to clear land. NOTHING like any of that stuff in NYC etc.

Such a shame there is so much intentional burning that goes on here, in Virginia and around the country. So much pollution and so much for people really caring about global warming. I guess GW is about the money.

They have been burning debris and trees - cleared some land- just off 466 across the street by the Palmer laurel valley course. Been going on for a few weeks off and on.

I don’t get it with such
an easy solution. Take those windmills honing in the wales to beaches
give ‘em a 180 and blow the smoke back to Canada

Really on the news it only shows it’s only as far as N. Carolina. What we need is a good rain to knock down the smoke. If you do smell smoke it’s not affecting your health. When they show you N. Y. it looks like fallout from a nuclear bomb. I would lose any sleep over it yet. Surprise the govt. haven’t stepped up & help but it only sounds like they think more money is the solution. It’s not a threat in Florida yet!

El Nino, a regular and natural occurrence, has just started in Pacific ocean, so things will get hotter.
Drought in Australia, wetter in Southern US, and reduce India's Monsoon season, add a warmer planet, and record world heat is forecast.
Good job we are in a seven year cooling period.:icon_wink:

The situation in the northeast may improve in 4-5 days. A low over the Great Lakes area will result in southerly flow.

Even Cheach and Chong could answer this one with a definite “No”. They would refer to their album,”Up in Smoke” as a reference .

With all the "hot air" coming out of D.C., I'm surprised it got past there and reached N.C. :D

provide information, services where possible and support. On the Federal level a tougher statement to Trudeau and Canada might help. Climate change? I don't believe so.

Do you think Canada set these fires deliberately?
Does Trudeau control wind direction?
I suppose all the forest fires in US burn smokeless.
Get used to it, warmer drier weather will bring more fires.
It is a worldwide problem.
Get used to it.

Most of the fires were due to lightning in remote areas (no roads for 50 miles or more in some places) that were extremely dry, almost no rain for a 60 days span in warm spring conditions.

This level of fires has not happened in recorded history in that part of Canada. Climate change has been the accepted explanation for these fires by almost a large majority of scientists worldwide.

It’s called control burn . Canada and California might learn a few things if they did the same. If you burn the under brush then fires don’t rage out of control . Florida does a great job hence we have no wild fires.

I have read about the smoke from the Canadian wildfires, but until I saw it in person, it didn’t seem as bad.

Flew into Indianapolis today and the haze and smell is horrible. Air quality is “Poor”. Took some pics. This is NOT evening dusk, it is haze from the wildfires up north.

Did the “smoke” smell kind of like a skunk? How did you feel after you smelled it? Asking for a friend….

there's been regular burning since we moved here, going on 5 years ago. i'm fairly sure it's the dead trees/vegetation, & trees they took down to build new homes. i learned Fl actively does this in efforts to reduce wildfires from spreading.
