Question for any former homeowner insurance agents.
I got a quote from a company. The quote lasted for 30 days. Within that 30 day window when I went in to accept the quote, the agent informed me that the company was no longer writing new policies in Florida.
Since the quote was still open when I applied, do I have any rights to get the policy?
Thanks

No. The quote is just a price, not an insurance binder. Also, the agent is not really an agent for the company in the legal sense. Insurance "agents" are mostly salespeople. Even when you get an insurance binder, it will have some fine print that says the company can reject the policy for almost any reason. I learned that the hard way.

Sorry but it seems with insurance companies the only rights we have is what the insurance give us and what they give us they can easily take away.

the agent informed me that the company was no longer writing new policies in Florida. Why would you want to deal with an insurance company that is no longer writing insurance in FL anyway? (Aside from the fact you'd be guaranteed you wouldn't get a 2nd year). Sounds like trouble waiting to happen.

Yep, it’s happening in California too because of the wildfires. We left that insurance mess only to end up in this insurance mess. 🙄
