Noticing a minor oil leak on my driveway where my car is usually parked can be the start of a major repair if not attended to quickly. I had read on TOTV plus another local website about Action Gator Tire and Service on 466 across from Walmart. Since previous reviews were very favorable, I stopped there last week. They were quick to put my car on the lift and search for an oil leak. In ten minutes, they could not locate a leak because the oil had been sprayed all over the bottom of the engine. They agreed to wipe most of the sprayed oil off and for me to return the following morning. The next morning no leaks on the driveway, no sprayed oil on the engine. They said it appeared whomever changed the oil before I bought the car did a sloppy drain and left oil laying where it should have went into their recycle can. That explained why my oil dipstick showed no change from full when I checked it three or four times plus twice at Action Tire. No charge for their service, plus, would not let me tip their technicians.
Too many auto service stores are quick to scam the elderly. Thank you Action Tire and Service.! We need more merchants like you near The Villages.

Recently bought new tires at Action Gator Tire on 466A across from Pinellas Plaza. I brought in prices from 3-4 other dealers and they not only matched the lowest price, they beat it. And, they offer a discount to veterans. Great service.

We have had very positive experiences at Wildwood Tire on SR-44, just east of 301. They are fair and honest, and go above and beyond to earn your trust.

Second that. We've been going to Sumter Tire and Auto for some time now. They're straight shooters.

I started using Sumter Tire about a year ago. Just for oil change and tire rotation. In and out, now with a nice new waiting room. Last service

Was the friday before memorial day.

Come home, didnt use the car the day before, pull out and there is oil on my garage floor. Call Sumter, came over tgat day, they were apologetic, offered me some cleaner to put on my floor.

I knew it wasnt a lot of oil. They didnt tighten the drain plug enough. Amateurish, but it was the day before the three day weekend! Remember those?

Ill go back to them.

But i needed tires recently. Ordered them from Tire Rack, dlivered to pep boys in leesburg. In and out in just over an hour with an alighnment. Fairly reasonable price…only $177 for mounting and the alighnment

I did a lot of research for replacement tires. In the end I went to Pepboys in Leesburg. Got a set of Cooper tires, buy 3 get one free. The tires and install was a great deal. Pepboys was very good. Cooper tires are made in the USA, the majority of models anyway. I like that. A lot. And the tires are perfect.

This thread has incentivized me to relate my experience at the Walmart on 466 two months ago, which I had intended to do then. I had a TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) light on my panel for a couple of months (no danger - pressures were fine). My SIL told me that Walmart advertises changing an individual tire monitor for $28.80. Anyway, I took the vehicle to them and instructed them to change the adjacent monitor if they found a bad one, i.e. if R front was bad, also change the L front one, as well. My wife & I walked across the street to get a sandwich while they were working on the vehicle. We had barely sat down with our sandwiches when Walmart called - the car was finished. All four TPMS monitors were fine but needed reprogrammed (requires a special scanner equipment). The charge was $0.00 and I became an instant fan. It seems honesty/integrity is a rare commodity these days. Thank you Walmart on 466 :BigApplause:

Heartwarming thread! I know my car has a bizarrely designed chassis that catches oil when it gets drained. I now ask for my chassis to be cleaned off of oil drips (best they can) after oil changes.

Glad to hear you had a good experience at Action Gator. My experience was not good. Went in for new battery for my car. When they checked the charging system they said I needed to spend around $450 for a rebuilt alternator. Told them I would think about it and let them know. They told me the battery had a two year warrantee. It says right on the battery, one year. When I ask about the warrantee they said their company puts the extra year on the warrantee. There was no paperwork to verify that the warrantee was really two years. When I ask for paperwork they said they were out and they would call when the paperwork for the warrantee came in. Never received a call. When I had the alternator checked at another car repair store, it checked out just fine. I for one will never go back!!!

Unfortunately, Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco and any big box store their auto service
is only as good as the people they hire.

Some are bad, some are good, and others are great.

Glad you were treated well at Walmart.

GOOD to hear ! Now, if only we could do something about some of these very high profile HAVC "services" that are scamming seniors here and all the surrounding retirement communities everyday !

Yes, we have had the same experience with Wildwood Tire. We have been going there for service since we moved here seven years ago.

We have gone there several times and always been satisfied. On one occasion they had to keep the car longer than expected and paid for an Uber to get us home. Above and beyond!

You know Auto Parts store sell a dye that you ad to oil & if your car leaks oil, the tech would definitely see it. If it’s not leaking now you’re right it was sloppy work.
